My notes indicate that David B. Ozment married May Elizabeth Burns in Cooke County, TX . He was b. 3 June 1849 in MS and d. 2 Mar 1933 in Gainesville, Cooke Co., TX. Betty was b. 27 Nov 1862 in Cooke Co., TX and d. 2 Dec 1938 in Cooke Co., TX. If you can add more Burns information, Clyde, please do. David was a full brother to Andrew Clinton Ozment, my ancestor. His middle name is spelled alternately as "Bruer" or "Brewer". His headstone says simply "D. B. Ozment". (Source: telephone conversation with Loveta Ravize, 7 November 1998) David B. appears in the 1870 Cooke County, TX federal census in the Gainesville Precinct. Caroline Miller <milleriw@mbay.net> Newspaper obituary: " David Ozment, Pioneer Cooke Citizen, Dies Had Been Resident of the County for 81 Years; Saw Courthouse Located --- David Brewer Ozment, 84, one of the oldest pioneer citizens of Cooke county, died at his home, 315 North Weaver street, Thursday evening at 9:30 o'clock. Funeral services were held at the home of his granddaughter, Mrs. Z. O. Dunman, 319 North Denton street, Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. C. A. Wheeler, Christian minister, officiating, with burial in Fairview cemetery under the direction of George J. Carroll and Son. Pallbearers were grandsons of Mr. Ozment, D. Bond, Bob Bond and Z. O. Dunman; a nephew, Jim Arrington, and Bob Cearnal. Mr. Ozment is survived by his wife, two children, Mrs. E. D. Bond, and G. P. Ozment; three grandchildren, D. and Bob Bond and Mrs. Z. O. Dunman, eight great-grandchildren and one brother, Bob Ozment of Baire(?), Oklahoma. Another brother was the late Mack Ozment, early Sheriff of Cooke county. Mr. Ozment ws born June 3, 1848 in Mississippi, and came to Texas and to Cooke county with his parents when he was four years of age. For the past two years, he had received the prize at the old settlers reunion at the Cooke County Fair for having lived the longest in Cooke county of anyone in attendance. He was present when the present site of the courthouse which definitely established the location of Gainesville was situated(?). During the Civil War he served as a SSgnt.
