    3. Its now 10:30 PM and Chris is asleep on the couch, Charter is next to her on the sofa, Cruiser and the puppies Chip and Junior are asleep at her feet. We have dodged a bullet. The wind is still howling, but I pity the folks in North Carolina who are going to get nailed the way I thought we were going to get nailed. Winds in Charleston are variable from next to nothing to 70 mph. Here in Moncks Corner it is howling. Mostly what we are hearing is the wind trying to get behind the flakeboard we put up over the windows. Its raining like h..., too. Barometer now is steady at 29.22 in/Hg. We have weathered pretty much the most that we are going to get. Charleston is furious at the state government over their inability to get folks out of here. There are tons of horror stories of folks trying to leave Charleston and being on the highway for over 8 hours just to get to the Summerville exits which is only 15 miles away up Interstate 26. So far damage here is minimal; power lines down, awnings gone, and few trees down. One interview on TV a few minutes ago was a young single woman near west of the Ashley who was in her mobile home with her two cats when a live oak fell on them. All okay, including the kittens. Bottom line for us, I am going to go to bed. I'll update again in the morning when we find out what really transpired. To everyone: Thanks for the outpouring of emails. I have loved hearing from folks I don't know. The genealogy community is wonderful and thanks to the Ozment -l and the Lower-Delmarva -l for asking about us. You folks are just super. Maybe tomorrow, I can get back to genealogy. Thanks, and good night, Frank. Frank and Chris Courtney Moncks Corner, SC
