    1. [OZMENT] Fw: Floyd Update from SC
    2. Chris and Frank
    3. Hi folks and relatives, kin, etc. Here we are in beautiful South Carolina awaiting the arrival of Floyd. I thought of my fellow researchers and thought you might like to see status reports. I'll send them periodically. Best to all, Frank Frank and Chris Courtney Moncks Corner, SC Sent: Wednesday, September 15, 1999 2:48 PM Subject: Floyd Update from SC Well, I finally closed off the last piece of the house an hour ago. I had left one sheet of particle board off half of the sliding glass door to our deck. Now, the only way in or out of the house if via the side door of the Garage on the west side of the house. Chris's car is in the workshop on the east end of our property (along with the Chief of Police's boat) and my truck will go into the garage attached to the house shortly. ` Winds are now gust here to about 30, heavy rain and blowing rain. Barometer is falling rather quickly and is now 29.45 in/Hg. I will be going over to Jimmy Sanders house shortly. Jimmy and Gloria are in the 70s and live directly on the Cooper River which borders Moncks Corner to the east. Yesterday, I tied Jimmy's 41 foot Gibson houseboat to three trees on the shore using 5/8 inch nylon yachtbraid. I want to see what the water is doing and how the boat is holding up. The Rail Race Canal, which connect the Cooper River to the locks at Lake Moultrie is about 100 feet wide and there are a sizeable number of sail and power boats anchored. They have come up from Charleston. One pair of fools are rafted up. I bet they party tonight. Local humor from downtown Moncks Corner where I just came from. Written in black spray paint on a boarded up storefront: "Hurricane Floyd, kiss my grits!" "Country folk will survive, Moncks Corner pride!" More later on.
