Thanks again for setting me straight. > Good morning, Elizabeth I am really doing the same thing you are. I collect every Ozment name. I know that they are all tied together one way or another. Too many of them married cousins or other Ozments not to be related! On these Jame H. Ozment(s): The first one I learned about was my 2nd great grandfather, James Harrison Ozment. During my early research I ran across all these other James H. Ozment(s) and I made the mistake of assuming they were all James Harrison, also. Then I ran across James Henry and that has been a "whole nother ball game." I have the lineage of James Henry to present time in about 400 family pages that was done by Lamar White of Utah with documentation. I have not put this in my database but have the loose pages. To tell you the truth I can not tie my Ozments into the James Henry branch and it makes me almost pull my hair out sometimes. With so many of them having large families we have not been able to tie in children with so many of them and this is where the ones we can not link up with and they are the solitary ones. We just don't know who their parents are yet. It is interesting to note that I found a J. Harrison Ozment who married a Wright in North Carolina that was written in Goodspeed's. He was not one of mine and I could not tie in at the time but the name was interesting. Then a couple of years later I had him tied in!!!I That was a great sense of accomplishment for me to finish this loose end and end the mystery for me. The migration as I see it: Two or three brothers came over from England (not France as the Jolley letter says. This is another story in itself with too much family tradition not backed by facts. The name Lafayette was used in the family as far back as Robert Lafayette Ozment born in England in 1710).They are first found in the 1700's in Talbot and Caroline Counties in Maryland. I came to realize that Baltimore was a port of entry into this country. See how much we can learn from genealogy? From Maryland the clan moved to Guilford County, North Carolina and then to middle Tennessee, mostly Wilson County. Here is where the big split came. My branch came to McLennan County, Texas, others to Cooke County, Texas. Others went to Saline County, Illinois, Drew County, Arkansas...South Carolina, Mississippi, & Kentucky mainly. The farmers wore out the land and not knowing anything about rotation of crops and fertilizers they moved on to new rich lands. They usually went in groups for protection to new lands that were just opening up. I realize you know this so I am just repeating. I have found several Wrights in North Carolina that were married to Ozments. I daydreamed maybe we were kin to the aviation brothers. ha Then this week I found out that North Carolina may put the Wright brothers on their quarter. Also, Ohio may put them on it also. I learned that the Wright brothers were from Ohio. After Kitty Hawk they went back to their bicycle shop in Ohio and finished out their careers there. Also of interest to me was that the first man who orbited the earth, John Glenn and the first man that walked on the moon, Neil Armstrong are all from Ohio!!! Ohio may put all three on their quarter. Anyway, thanks for keeping up the good work. Seek and you shall find. I do wonder if anyone out there has the children of Richard, the son of Samuel, who was married to Rebecca Pavey on January 11, 1816 in Guilford County, North Carolina? My friend Howard Frank Ozment's family is from Kentucky and he can not tie in his family either. I have not heard from him. Sincerely, Lon
