Could this possibly be "our" Richard Ozment, Jr.(b.1758-1759, MD) who was apparently married twice? First marriage July 16, 1778, Caroline Co., MD to Elizabeth LeCompte. Second marriage to "Unknown" (my records) about 1816,MD or NC (see 1820 census, Guilford Co, NC, M-33, Roll 85, page 108) who could "possibly" be Rebecca (Pavey/Peavy). Or could this be Richard Ozment (3rd) SON of Richard, Jr. (b. abt. 1790) who is also listed in 1820 census, Guilford Co., NC. Do the math. Are both candidates? If the Richard Ozment mentioned in the 1822 Guilford Co.land transaction is Richard Ozment, Jr., OR Richard Ozment (3), it could explain where they (both) were living prior to move to Wilson Co., TN. It could also help to identify (and place in some kind of order) some of these "Richard"s. A monumental task in itself. This same 1822 deed (Richard Ozment to Pleasant Campbell) mentions"Evins old place"---where Richard Ozment is now living.... There is a SECOND deed also dated 18 March 1822 (DB 17:12, recorded 1824) to Richard Ozment from Thomas SCOTT, "Ervins old place".....where Ozment now lives ---209 acres. (The source- Abstracts of Ozment deeds, Guilford Co., NC by Mary A. Browning, genealogist, Jamestown, NC. She also posed the question "Wonder about this...Richard Ozment, Jr.?"). Sorry, Marsha, if I muddied the waters. I think I have asked more questions than I have answered for you. Perhaps other Ozment family researchers who are interested in the MD, NC and TN Ozments can help solve this puzzle??? Dwight 11:25 P.M. EDT Fri 6/16/00

    3. Dwight and Marsha, regarding Richard Ozment. Just to make a very faint tie (a thread?) to MD, in my line of Ozmans/Ozments in MD, one of the family properties was inherited down via John Scott of Talbot.
