Marsha, Do you think this is your Richard OZMENT? Could this possibly be Richard OZMENT (III), son of Richard OZMENT, Jr. who moved to Wilson Co., TN between 1815 and 1820? I don't have a copy of "Tennessee Cousins". Exactly what does the reference on pg. 645 say (any dates, location of grave, etc.)? Dwight
Hi Everyone, Just received this from an ANDERSON "cousin" who had found it by accident. Can anyone help? "TN COUSINS" Baltimore: Genealogical Publishing Co., 1989 reprint, pg. 645 ... reference to a grave plot of a Rebecca OZMENT, wife of Richard OZMENT ... this was in Wilson Co, TN. (Also mentions something about her maiden name may have been SHANNON.) I have a copy of the original license between Rebecca PEAVY - Richard OZMENT (Guilford Co, NC, 1816) who I believe was probably the dau. of my ancestor, John PAVEY. (Peavy was one of the mis-spellings for Pavey, especially in the southern states. Also, in Margaret Cook's will, she is Rebecca PAVEY.) Does anyone have this book? This is the first time I've heard this information. Has anyone ever heard of a SHANNON - OZMENT family connection before? Thanks. Marsha
Hi, all- I have been advised by James P. Osment, Sr. that the obit for OZMENT, Miller K. came from the "Nashville Tennessean" newspaper. Dwight
Thanks for the posting, Dwight. My wife an I spent 3 hours with him in 1995 when we were in Nashville along with Evelyn and ED. The four of us were there for 7 days and on the go all the time. Miller, "Ozzie" was the son of Orville L. Ozment and Missie B. Dillon. Orville was the son of James Thomas and Charity Phelps. James Thomas was an older brother of my grandmother, Lucinda. Ozzie had a brother, Dorris O. who died 23 May 1923. A sister Minne Lou Moore, also Hester Ozment Easton who was still living in '95. I talked to her on the phone but was not able to meet her. She did have a daughter. There was also a brother William D. Ozment and another sister, Ruth. Most of this family including James Thomas and Charity are buried at the Donelson Cemetery behind the Church of Christ, 2706 Lebanon Rd. Donelson. James Parker Osment SR. is a name that I can not place although I know that there were Ozments who later took the Osment surname. I did have Ozzie's death date that I believe came from the SS death index. After his death I wrote to his daughter but did not receive a reply. Good Hunting Dick Madson
