    3. Re: the pictures of tombstones posted today The name of the cemetery is Fairview Cemetery. It is located in Hubbard, Hill Co., TX. As far as I know those 7 gravestones were the only Osments buried there. I have not been back since the Anderson reunion last month. I have several families that migrated to Hubbard and surrounding areas from MS, TN, and east TX. These Osments came from Woodbury, Cannon Co., TN and prior to that, Bradley Co., TN, and before Bradley Co., TN, according to census data, NC. There seem to have been a number of Ozment/Osment families in NC, but I cannot link William to any specific parentage. Henry Stephen Osment and wife Frances Lee [Sullins] were born and married in Cannon Co.,TN. All their children were born in TN as well. Their daughter, Inis Felicia [Osment], and husband, William Austin Anderson, were my great grandparents. I have pictures of William and Inis and, I believe, also of Henry and Frances. They are packed away at my mother's house. I will have to dig them up and verify who is in the pictures (Could be Andersons and not Osments).

    1. [OZMENT] More photos
    2. I just added seven more tombstone photos to the gallery this morning. These were taken at Hubbard, Texas and were submitted by Darby Frantz. Thank you Darby. These are for the Osment spelling of the name. Does anyone have pictures of the Ozment tombstones in Drew County, Arkansas? I would dearly love to have those on the site. Any pictures of Alfred or James H. floating around? I guess they were born to early. Any place with an Ozment name on it would be great too. Eleanor

    1. [OZMENT] Thomas Ozment, m to Mariah
    2. I know this is a stretch, but the names are similiar. We are looking for Thomas m. to Mariah, father of James S. Ozment. James S. was born in NC in 1839. James S. migrated to Oregon, m. Elizabeth Dillon, and they had six children. Please let us know if any of this sounds familiar. Thanks. Anne

    3. Hi, Katie-- Our Minnie Ozment was the daughter of James S. and Elizabeth Dillon Ozment, sister of James Parker Ozment. Father, James S., was born in North Carolina in 1839, son of Thomas and Mariah (sp?) Ozment. We do not know Mariah's maiden name. The family migrated probably to Tennessee, and then to Oregon. Minnie married George Hawley, and we believe they lived for some time in the Cottage Grove, Oregon area, but we do not know how long they lived there, or when they came. After her husband, George's death, we do not know where she moved, or when she died. Let us know if this sounds similiar to your Minnie's history. In a message dated 07/01/2001 12:59:34 AM Central Daylight Time, JACKIEOZ1@aol.com writes: << are we on the board now?? hi everyone we had a reunion in lodi, ca. today for the james clinton ozment family. >> Jackie and Ozment list, The board that was mentioned is the new Ozment message board that combined the posts of the old GenConnect boards and the Ozment message board at Ancestry. When a post comes from "sender:gcgateway@rootsweb.com", that means that the message came from the message board and not from this list. They are working on putting the same message at the top of these posts that they used to on the old GenConnect boards, the one that told you that it came from the message board and gave you a link to reply to the message. There are probably quite a few people who post on the board that are not subscribers to this list. So, if you need to reply to a message from the board, you will need to go there to do so. It sounds like the reunion was really nice. I can't wait to see the information. Eleanor Colson Ozment list admin.

    2. I am looking for information regarding parentage and siblings of William Osment. He was born in 1812 or 1813 in NC, possibly in the area which later became part of TN. He married Elizabeth (?) from SC. Their first child, Nathan, was born in SC. Other children (all born in Bradley Co., TN) include Joseph S., Mary E., Rebecca, Lucinda C., John W., Thomas A., Martha J., and Sarah C., nine children altogether. I descend from Joseph S. Osment and wife Mary "Polly" (Hawkins). I have information on the descendants of Joseph and Mary and am glad to share. regards, Darby

    1. [OZMENT] Welcome to the revamped Ozment Message Board
    2. Welcome to the revamped Ozment Message Board. This board is a merging of the old Ozment GenConnect Boards and the Ancestry.com Ozment message board. You may now post all of your queries and data about the Ozment surname on this one board. When you post a new message, please be sure to find the drop down menu for the classification of the post. The default position for right now is for queries. Hopefully they will change this to "query". Other classifications to use are Bible, biography, birth, cemetery, census, death, deed, immigration, lookup, marriage, military, obituary, pension, and will. By classifying your post correctly, other researchers will be able to search just on wills, obits, marriages, etc. Also please notice the surname box. Please include ONLY the surnames that are included in the message. DO NOT include all of the names you are researching. Otherwise people will find your post in their searches and it won't have anything to do with what they are looking for. Please type the names with a comma and a space inbetween. i.e. Ozment, Ozmont. Check under "admin info" for messages from your administrator. Included is a link to the Ozment Family Genelaogy Website. Once all the glitches are fixed by the management team, this should be a great message board. Ozment Family Genealogy http://members.aol.com/eleanorcol/OzmentFamily.html

    3. Hi, I have reached a barrier in my search for Osment ancestors. I have, going backwards in time: Henry Stephen Osment b. 1867 m. Frances Lee Sullins b. 1867. Henry was born in Woodbury, Cannon Co., TN, and died in Hubbard, Hill, Co., TX their 7 children: Angela "Angie", Virginia "Virgie", Willa Mae, Lonnie Richard, Inis Felicia, Ima Louise "Ima Lou", and John Edward. Parents of Henry Stephen Osment were Joseph S. Osment b. 1842 and Mary "Polly" Hawkins. They were married in Woodbury, TN in 1866. Joesph was probably born in Bradley Co., TN. their 3 known children: Henry Stephen (1867), Mary E. (1870), and James R. (1876). Parents of Joseph S. Osment were William Osment b. 1812 in NC, and wife Elizabeth b. 1811 in SC (according to census data). They were married in 1836 in SC. their 9 known children: Nathan (b. 1837 in SC), Martha J. (1839, TN), Sarah C. (1841, TN), Joseph S. (1842, TN), Mary E. (1844, TN), Rebecca A. (1845, TN), Lucinda C. (1848, TN), John W. (1852, TN), Thomas R. (1854, TN). I cannot find reference to William or Elizabeth prior to their marriage in 1836. My information comes from LDS IGI records, 1850-1880 TN census data, grave markers in Hubbard TX, and from grandparents' recollections. Any possibilities? Input is always appreciated. regards, Darby
