what part of west tn are u talking about i have ozment family in weakly county tn katie ward
Hi Becky My Dad told me our origins were from western Tennessee. I have very little info to go on but here it is. Harvey Newton Ozment married Mary Russell approximately 1890 in Johnson County, Ill. There childrens names were Nell, Clarence, Eula, Arney (two others I can't recall right now). Arney was my grandfather. I hope you find something Becky. Thanks for sharing! Hi, Lon and all members of "THE LAND OF OZ" I am working on my plan to come to the OZMENT family reunion on Oct. 6th in TX. We just finished moving into our new home and you all probably know how disruptive that can be. I would certainly enjoy meeting my cousins, some of whom I have corresponded with over the years. I would be representing the MD, NC and VA branches. Lon, I will try to at least send copies of pictures of my direct Ozment lineage through my Great Grandparents, Adolphus Lafayette and Julia Chase (Lane)Ozment. That is..... when I can locate my files again!!! Hope to see you in person. Best regards, Dwight W. Ozment Mechanicsville, VA

I would love to meet you and the other members of your family. What a world we live in when I get to meet for the first time with my Great Grandfather, Walter L. Ozment's sister's family. Please bring PICTURES!!! I hope you have some old pictures, also! At the last reunion we had a relative who had a picture of Walter. The first one I had ever seen. I wish I had the rest of his family's pictures! Lon LonRMartin@aol.com
Lon, I had a computer crash last Sept and lost all, so don't have your email, or anyone's! Got this note about the reunion and hope I can get our clan together for it. Lon, regret that Chris and I will not be able to make the trip to Texas this time. She has the orginal wanted poster of cole younger, she let me get a copy serval years ago before it begin to fall apart. I've told her serval people have told me the same thing you said, and she says , Well! they don't know what their talking about. Shes a cute funny lady, and I just love her. I know you are familiar with Blue Bonnet maragin? She also says Gene Aurty"s wife posed for that lady in the blue bonnet. So she has a wrapper from the margin in her family book. Her last name was Ozment before she married. What are your parents Names? When I mention this to her shes going to want to know so she can see where you fit into the family. Martha
I have your husband, Carl Adrian Ozment, in my family file. He is a direct descendant of John Jasper Ozment. There are two "Clinton Ozments" in that family line -- Andrew Clinton, 1843-1883, was the father of Elnora Ozment who was Gene Autry's mother. James Clinton, 1886-1965, was a nephew of Andrew Clinton, being a son of Robert H. Ozment, younger brother to Andrew Clinton. Both Andrew Clinton and Robert Henry Ozment were sons of John Jasper Ozment, 1800-1855. As to the connection to Cole Younger, I believe it is just a family story. It is pervasive, but I have found no proof. Cole Younger's mother, Bethsheba, was supposed to be a sister to Anna Mae and Margaret Morgan, who were both wives of John Jasper Ozment. That would make Cole Younger a nephew to John Jasper. However, all the information I have found says that Bethsheba was not a Morgan; she is cited as "Bersheba Leighton Fristoe", 1816-1870, born in TN. The Morgan sisters were born in NC, so that location doesn't fit any better than the last name. I know families moved around, and the Fristoe could have been an early marriage, but there is no indication of "Morgan" associated with Bethsheba in any of the sources I have found. Caroline
My husband Carl Adrain Ozment, has the same descendants you do as, but I don't remember seeing your name in his family tree.Clinton Ozment was his great Uncle.and I believe Clintons sister was Gene Autry's mother, She was an Ozment.so he was my husbands cousin. Then I'm told farther on back, Cole Younger was also kin to the Ozments. I have a copy of one of his reward posters, they were offering $1000.00 for his capture, that was a lot of money back then. and John Jasper is his great, (about 3or 4 times)grandfather also
