Many thanks to Paul , Howard and Dave who have cleared up the question over 'yardland' - my old ancestor must have been quite a guy in terms of the land he was farming - most of it in Warwicks but he did have "two yard lands" plus two meadows and premises in Shutford so at least the question was 'Oxford related'. I knew I'd get the answer on this list! Steve
