Thank you so much Paul, it is good to know we are on the right lines then and that my grand-daughters red hair is just maybe from Irish blood. No, I cannot find her in 1881 which is odd. I don't think that the Tardebigge, Worcestershire one is her as there seem to be two Matthew Dixon's about the same age. Thanks I do have the 1891 census, living in Oembroke Street Cowley. Did they like the street name or where they owned by the same college I wonder? Rose > married William Adams WARD b.ca 1864 in Oxford in the July-Sept Qtr of 1886 > in Oxford. This marriage happened at St Thomas, Oxford, on 2 August 1886. William Adams WARD, 22, bachelor, joiner, of Pembroke St, St Aldates [at least, in the OFHS transcript, this appears as "PEMBROKE ST ALDATES", so it's my interpretation.], son of James WARD, builder; married Rose Harriet DIXON, 21, spinster, of Christ Church Buildings, daughter of Matthew Dixon, umbrella maker. This matches the 1871 census entry: > I believe we may have found Rose > living in 9 High Street, St Thomas's aged 5 years. RG10/1440 folio 52 page > 4, though we need to know by Rose's marriage what her father's name was. I found the couple living in Cowley in 1891. Do you know where Rose was in 1881?
