Dave, This is a possibility ! The "Place Names of Oxfordshire" quotes a Bolles Shypeyn (or Shipton)situated in Headington, but now lost. The ruins of the building there was pulled down when Oxford was garrisoned in the Civil War. The name was noted on a map dated 1605.
