    1. [OXF] Where is Wales in North Berkshire or Oxfordshire?

    3. Hello Listers, I keep coming across people mentioned 'of Wales' in these wills of Draycott Moor (Southmoor), in the Longworth PR even the baptism of one, Richard Southby has Wales besides his name. Two wills dated 1570 and 1628 use this phrase. Is this a place in Bampton or Burford I wonder? Also has anyone come across Faringdon as Chipping Faringdon? I have been trying to discover where this place can possibly be. Many thanks for any help given. Jill

Colin Harris's "Oxfordshire Parish Registers & Bishops Transcripts" references Wales to Hinton Waldrist. The introduction to the OFHS Hinton Waldrist parish register transcript on CD FAR03 gives: "It included the hamlets of Duxford, Wales and Burgage, of which only Duxford now remains." Wendy
