The reports of the hearings can sometimes be interesting. One of my ancestors successfully opposed a removal order, & the evidence presented to the hearing included where he'd lived & who he'd worked for at various times, the names of his sons who'd joined the army, the fact that one had died in Ireland, & which regiment another had joined, when, & where (from army records, attested to by an officer who attended the hearing), & that he'd been in the East Indies, from where he'd returned temporarily with a wife. All good stuff. I never found the wife, but I traced his army career, & that of a brother, & got a physical description. Both were in famous battles (Corunna & Waterloo), one spent ten years in India. That prompted me to search military records for other relatives, & I found some fascinating stuff. Another removal order gave the names & ages of children I never knew existed. They're worth checking.
