    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Owens/Owings/Roberts/Stinchcomb/Foster/Perkins/Griffin Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/CV4.2ACEB/142.2 Message Board Post: Greetings, cousin. Yep. We are undoubtedly related. I live in Prescott, AZ and I think that we can and should exchange notes. My personal appreciation of my Owens/Owings line is from me backward in time thus: My mother: Elsie Mae (Brown) Veek//Philip Errington Veek gfather/gmother: George (Henry Owens) Owen Brown//Elsa Lisabet Dittmar g-gfather/g-gmother: Zaddock Bradford Owings/Owens//Adelia Josephine (Perkins - maiden name) Welch[first marriage]. gg-gfather/gg-gmother: Norman Asbury Owings//Sarah Griffin (or Griffith?) ggg-gfather/ggg-gmother: Bazaleel Owings//Edith Foster gggg-gfather/gggg-gmother: Elijah Owings//Hannah Stinchcomb ggggg-gfather/ggggg-gmother: Henry Owings//Helen Stinchcomb gggggg-gfather/gggggg-gmother: Richard Owen/Owings//Rachel Roberts - or Beale? Please see on the internet two of several somewhat conflicting pedigrees: http://www.angelfire.com/wa2/Gsows/Owens.html and http://users.erols.com/fmoran/owens.html Also see these books: "The Family Search of Clarence Rice Owens" Compiled from his Notes by Katharine Bruce Jones Published by California Genealogical society San Francisco Gateway Press, In. Baltimore 1975 which relies extensively upon DM Owings' findings (below) and "The History of the Owings Family" by Donnell MacClure Owings, Ph.D. LDS Salt Lake City microfilm File # 428026 which supports most, but not all, of the above. There is very much uncertainty as to Rachel's correct origin and surname and documented parentage and origin for Captain Richard Owens/Owings, Carpenter. "Owings and Allied Families" by Addison D. and Elizabeth S. Owings. I have just received an extensive (397 pg) set of notes compiled by Donnell MacClure Owings, Ph.D., who was the primary basis for all the above genealogies. and see "The Origins of the Stinchcombe Families" on the internet at http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Ranch/1402/stinchcomb.htm which also includes the variant spelling of "Stinchcomb". Much, much more to share. If you want a copy of the notes, drop me an e-mail. Best wishes, Brad Veek Prescott, AZ
