He was born in Austin, Texas October 2, 1914 to Jack M. and Bessie Owings. He attended school in Cameron, Texas. He was a retired member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local Union 716. He is survived by his wife Louise, two sons, Jack M. Owings, III and Richard C. Owings of Houston, and one daughter Dorothy Mathes of Conroe, TX; brothers Douglas M. Owings of Houston and John T. Owings of Bella Vista, Arkansas. Funeral services will be held at 3pm Saturday, February 9, 1991 at Waltrip Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Manfred Sternberg, David Kahn, Floyd Rollins, Ronny Schwarz, Alvin Acock, Jr. and Sam Vines.
