He appears on a census in 1870 with his son and family in Kentucky. It reads as follows. 1870 Census, Graves County, Kentucky Owens, Joseph Age 24 Farmer KY Owens, Virginia Age 20 Keeping House KY Owens, Clayton Age 01 KY (Researcher Notes: Listed next door to Richard Owens (age 52, AL) and wife Mary C. Owens (age 49, KY) and children, Matthew, Nancy, Mary, Theodocia, Alice, Phebe, Sue, James, and Lydia. This Richard would be my 3rd great grandfather on my fathers mothers side.
