I have an Outlook Express problem: My messages should be alphabetised by last name, descending, but it keeps changing to ascending, then by first name, then back again! Frustrating!! Now, sometimes it asks for my username and password, and them will not accept that. Just now I had to re-type the username and password, then it accepted me...what is going on here? I have the latest version. Yesterday, my Family Tree Maker would not come up, and I called the tech at the company, and he told me it was a "worm" that came through Outlook Express, and that is could also affect Outlook. Is this what is wrong.??? ( I recently had my hard drive cleaned in order to get rid of Hamster.exe.)Mary [email protected]
If you got an error message concerning the file OLE2NLS.DLL when FTW refused to open, it is not a virus, that is a bug that has been in FTW since ver. 5. ,,, Otherwise: 1. Do you get anykind of error message, if so, exactly what does it say. 2. What does FTW and/or computer do ,,, (freeze ,, computer lock up ,,, little man pop up on the screen and giggle at you <G>) 3. We need more DETAILED input from you. I do not understand the Sort problem , (the First name & then the Last name part). I also have the latest ver. and it does not allow me to sort based on my selection of words in the "From" column. ,,, The identifier labels at the top of each column is not only to identify the column but is also a Sort button, click on this button and the whole column is resorted (ascending / descending), this will also change all the other columns ,,,, click on the "Received" column and all messages will be sorted according to time received, click on it again to reverse the sort. If this is not your problem, then we need more information: 1. Are you the only one who use this computer. 2. How did you set it up to sort on First name or Last name within any one column. 3. Does OE perform OK otherwise. 4. Are you confusing "Sort" with "Message Rules" 5. We need more DETAILED input from you. I have also had the username and password problem and 99.99999% of the time it is the fault of my ISP having a problem, when they get their problem fixed, mine goes away. The fact that yours is "sometimes" indicates something along these lines. Otherwise ::: 1. When it does accept your username and password, does everything else work OK. 2. Can you correlate the onset of these problems with any other event that took place on your computer. 3. Do you get anykind of error message just before or at the time of abnormal behavior. 4. We need more DETAILED input from you. Overall: 1. We need more DETAILED input from you. 2. Do all three problems occur during the same computer session. 3. None of us out here have any clue as to how you or other family members use your computer; therefore, we need nit-picking details about the problem, including the sequence of events, wording of error messages, how did you get out of the fix you found yourself in, etc., ect. . ,,,, After much correspondence with a person a while back about why their CD tray didn't work anymore, come to find out that their teenage son ALWAYS closed it by shoving it in with his foot (among other abusive treatment) ,,,, just threw this in to give some idea how difficult it is to troubleshoot someone else's computer while blind folded.
