And voila!! The message I just sent Gene appears in my sent folder. Apparently on July 14, 2001 a mysterious quirk took my calendar back to January 5, 1998. Incoming e-mail carried the correct date, and the hour was correct, so I wasn't aware it had happened. Never will understand why that happened but re-setting the calendar has restored my sent file. Thanks for ALL suggestions; I'll hold on to them for possible future need. You all have been great.
