I have just began to use Outlook 2000, and would like to add an email address for my wife as well. We do not want to share address books. Can I use Outlook and she use Outlook Express? I set it up like this, but the address books are shared by each program. When she was on Outlook with me under her own address, her mail was mixed with mine when it was downloaded. This is why I thought she should use Outlook Express. Blake M. Stough STAUCH, LENHART, and AMREV-CAMP-SECURITY List Administrator Researching Stough-Stauch-Stouch families originating in York Co., PA
Hi Blake ,,, I don't really know about Outlook but I would bet it has the ability to set up two Identities, if it does, this would be the way to go rather than two different mail clients. When two Identities are set up they are the same as two different mail clients and each has its' own folders & address book. Check under File (upper top left) for some mention of "Identities" ,,, find the one that says "Add New Identity" and follow the bunny trail.,,,,, just be sure you use a different Identity name for both the New Identity & its' Address book than the name you are using now. Accounts Properties uncheck the (( Include this when downloading)) when you merge accounts You can have all the Identities you want, also accounts , there is a way to separate them. If you add separate e-mail address use (accounts) and follow the prompts, when you are done you will have separate mail storage, do not panic you did not loose your mail, just go to file/switch identifies / and fill out the blanks and you can switch back and fourth all you want an to keep the messages in their own mail folders separate from each other. If you need more detailed help ask in private. I never use the address book, I keep it turned off so I do not remember if you can, I think it is all one thing on that part and is also shared with your label and word processor. As is you word processor spellchecker associated with Outlook = I had Outlook once, but found the Outlook Express a better program in a lot of ways.
