OH-BOY ,,, now we are in trouble. I would not restore previous version just yet ,,, I did it once right after installing ver. 5.5 and it took me all the way back to ver. 4.7 ,,,, a real mess, but may have to try reinstalling V 5.5 over the top of itself. Have you tried uninstalling the program that started all this?? an uninstall MAY restore previous settings and/or files. Check out all the support articles below and see if any of them fits. ,,, if all this fails, Disable ALL third party programs and your antivirus and see if things improve. Various programs such as ad removers and web accelerators can cause such problems. Bob Hays PS: I am having mail server problems (last 4 days) sometimes I receive mail sometimes not (mostly not), same thing with sending. Am trying to keep up by reading the archives and repeated sends. _________________________________ list of articles on MS site on the problem: The page cannot be displayed http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q175/7/22.asp This page cannot be displayed. http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q238/5/50.asp Error Message: The Page Cannot Be Displayed http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q241/3/44.asp Page cannot be displayed error message and Norton http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q259/8/46.asp This behavior can occur if InternetBOOST '99 is installed and the settings are incorrect or the installation is damaged. http://www.bonzi.com/support.htm The Page Cannot Be Displayed (ICS) http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q230/2/06.asp "The Page Cannot Be Displayed" Message on ICS Client http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q259/8/18.asp *********** From: "E-Mail Administrator" <[email protected]> Subject: Fw: [OE] Cannot browse any pages Date: Mon, 25 Jun 2001 09:57:00 +0100 Bob Sorry, the wsock32.dll file was there. We checked first thing this morning and it was there in his windows\system directory. It is difficult on the phone, he must of had some hidden files or typed it in wrong on Friday. Anyway it is there. So we are back to square one. Last week we did do an Internet Explorer repair. Obviously this hasn't worked. Also in the add remove programs under Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 and Inrenet Tools there is a third option to Restore the previous windows configuration. Could this resolve it. Apparently everything used to work, browsing, e-mail until one of our engineers uninstalled and reinstalled one of our software programs. This is why we need to get this resolved as I am the one who is left to sort it out. Best Regards John Stevens
