As an after thought ,,,, "Compacting" is another word for "Compress", which means to "Make smaller" so that the file occupies less space on your HD. ,,,, also every folder/file in OE is compacted. Yes, I think compression is the term used by Netscape. People should be aware that compression, compaction, do not affect reading of email. They simply pull it together. Think of shuffling a stack of papers to make them neater. That's what compaction/compression do with the mail.
