Thank you so much everyone who has given information about my posting. I so appreciate it. With each new posting I think I started getting a better understanding. I would have written you each individually but when I tried to figure out how to send Bob a message off list I had no idea how to get his real email address. :) Boy, I hate not knowing how to do things!! Just when I think I am learning something about my computer I realize I really don't know to much. I was wondering if there is a site that would help teach a person how to read headers and find out about the individuals sending email. I never realized how easy someone can take over my email account. Thanks again for everyone's responses. I sub.ed my brother in AL to two mailing lists without his knowledge. I could also unsub him and you from this list if I choose to (which I don't) <g> Its' as simple as going into your mail account and substituting your address with another address ,,, compose a msg. ,,, send it ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, that's all there is to it. If you use the "Reply to: " option, will need to change the address there also. ,,, CAUTION : You MUST make the changes in your mail account BEFORE opening the "New Mail" and the fake address MUST have a valid domain name and does not have to be yours ,,, the user name does not have to be valid. DON'T FORGET to undo the changes when your dastardly deed is done. Sleep in secure comfort. Bob Hays PS: Notice who this msg. is from ,, and read the headers, the only truth in them should be my SMTP domain name.<g> And Jeen, I used your address to make this post, I needed someone who was sub.ed to the list.
This is a starting place, there may be others if you search for them. http://help.mindspring.com/docs/006/emailheaders/ Good luck Bob Hays __________________________________________________________- ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jeen M Ruff" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, January 18, 2001 8:44 PM Subject: [OE] Thank You! different reply address in email than the from address > Thank you so much everyone who has given information about my posting.
