    1. [OE] URL links via Outlook Express
    2. Hello fellow listers, I am hoping someone can help me with a technical problem. Recently out of the blue I have found I cannot go to any URL from within Outlook Express. I have not changed any settings, other than loading I.E.5.5. It was working fine in this new version, I have checked my settings but do not know which one relates to URL links. Any help would be appreciated. Derek Brooks, Goonhavern, Cornwall, UK

    3. OK Derek ,,, the first thing to check is your file associations: On your desk top, double click on your "My Computer" icon ,,,, click on "View", then "Folder Options", then "File Types" tab ,,, scroll down the list to URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol ,, there will be a long list of URL:XXXXXXXXXXX but URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol is the one you want. ,,, Under "File type details" should be : 1. Extension: "blank" 2. Content Type (MIME): 3. Opens with: IEXPLORE Now, click on "Edit" ,,, in the windows for # 1, 2, 3, & 4 should be: 1. URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol 2. Grayed out 3. Grayed out 4. Open Confirm open after download should be checked. Click on Open ,,, click on Edit ,,, in these windows should be: 1. Action: Grayed out 2. Application used to perform action: "C:\PROGRA~1\INTERN~1\iexplore.exe" -nohome NOTE: this is the short file name format, the actual words are ,, "C:\PROGRAM FILES\INTERNET EXPLORER\iexplore.exe" -nohome ,,,,,,,, if this is not correct in your computer, it is best to use Browse to find iexplore.exe to ensure that the path is correct. If you have to change this, when you are finished, make sure it looks EXACTLY like the Short or Long file name format ,,, substituting your changes of course. The important thing here is the path to iexplore.exe , in quotes with (space)-nohome at the end 3. Use DDE: should be checked 4. DDE Message: "%1",,-1,0,,,, 5. Application: IExplore 6. DDE Application Not Running: blank 7. Topic: WWW_OpenURL OK & Close your way all the way out and try it. Every thing presented above should be EXACTLY as presented, including quote marks. Lets hope and pray you find your problem here.
