    3. To answer "Piglet"'s comment about """" I don't know of any way to get OE to display by the "to" line rather than the "from" line """" , It is very easy to add the "To" column to your displayed columns if you want or need it. ,,,,, Right click anywhere in the displayed columns row and a window will open with a list of available columns that can be added or removed, put a check mark in the ones you want or remove the check mark for ones to remove ,,, use the "Up" or "Down" option to position them in the order you want them displayed. Not being of a sound and/or active mind, I do not fully understand just what Dee is trying to do, In general, I can't get passed why anyone would want to use their "Sent Items" folder as a storage folder ,,, that just scrambled my brain. <g> I did understand that Dee did not want to do away with her little " + " signs which her messages are hiding behind and that is OK ,,, However, they could temporarily be turned off to display all messages,, find the one you want ,,, do whatever you do with it ,,, turn those little " + " signs back on again. If this will work for you, I will detail how to do it. ,, two key strokes to turn them off and two to turn them back on. Here is two more reasons I don't have a good mind ,, check and see if one of them will work for you. 1. when finished with your reply and it is ready to send ,, before sending, click on File\Save, this will save the entire message in your "Drafts" folder, now go to the Drafts folder and drag and drop the message somewhere else (this MUST be done before sending the reply) ,,, here is the kicker ,, the "From" column in the saved reply will contain your name as the now sender. Now you can go "Send" the reply. 2. Same instructions as in #1 except click on File/Copy to folder ,, choose a folder to save in and save it ,,, the kicker here is ,, the "From" column in the saved reply will now contain the name of the original sender and not your name as the now sender. FYI: adding a "To" column and sorting on it will not bring the hidden messages out of hiding as long as the little " + " signs are active. Hope I have not exceeded your request. 3. Dee: as far as being able to find the piece of mail in the sent folder without searching, click on the "received" bar at the top of the sent folder, and the newest message will always be at the bottom. (You can click "subject" after you retrieve it to return it to its previous state.) As far as the other issue goes, I don't know of any way to get OE to display by the "to" line rather than the "from" line (which seems to be how to get where you want to be.) Sorry about that. 1. [OE] Filing email and its reply at one time
    2. Dee Randall
    3. Please read carefully, I only want to know how to accomplish what I have requested, not other scenarios. Here goes: When I reply to an email message I want to FILE THE REPLY only, which will include the original message at the bottom of my reply email. (Of course, there are times when I choose to file them separately, so that is no problem). I am only speaking of what I want to do in my first sentence. I do not want the original message by itself filed. Nor do I want the reply to the original message filed by itself. After replying, when I open up the sent message folder, the message may be filed anywhere in the sent message folder at the very bottom and I usually have to initiate a find to retrieve it. It is not always at the bottom by date sent because it can be filed under the subject and hidden under the little + and may be back in May sometime. I should be able to open the sent folder and immediately see all the recently sent messages without having to go thru a separate search procedure. Sometimes I can see it at the bottom, if the subject has not been used before. Even if I have the emails sorted by ascending and descending, they are filed under the subject of the recently sent email , so this necessitates a search. My point being, I do not wish to initiate a search everytime I want to file a reply message. And I want to file a received email with its reply, so that I will not have a duplicate of the first email. And I do not want to get rid of the email function that puts all email by subject under one heading regardless of sender and date. With all this in mind, I have tried using the copying function to file the reply in the corresponding folder. It comes up with my name only, and so there will not be an identifying initiator of the email. So this defeats this filing answer. I know this is a complicated question, but sometimes to a complicated question, there is a VERY SIMPLE answer. Sincerely, and Hopefully, Dee Randall Virginia

    3. I will have a hard time posing my question, because of my lack of computer verbosity. So here goes: Here is the scenario: The computer screen locks up and you CAN still click the control+alt+delete thereby bringing up the "Close Program" dialog where it will state that the Msimn is "not responding." Sometimes when you delete the "msimn (not responding)", then you can go to your e-mail. Sometimes when you delete the "msimn (not responding)", then you can't go to your e-mail. Sometimes when you delete msimn (when it doesn't say "msimn (not responding") then you can get your e-mail. Sometimes when you delete msimn (when it doesn't say "msimn (not responding)" then you can't get you e-mail. Can anybody give me any information about this "msimn." Thanks. Dee

This is a beta site and they will eventually charge reasonable fees for the help they offer. However, right now it is free and I did get the help I needed. If you would like to check it out, go to: www.expertcity.com . You will need to register and accept an agreement. One thing I noticed was a small message that you may want to close windows that contain personal information; I did and I would recommend it to you.

    3. The main problem with trying to use OE and Netscape simultaneously for mail is that they don't share inboxes, and you can't really tell one "only download digests" and the other "download everything but digests". For the most part, the two programs do pretty much the same stuff, pretty much the same way. The "inline digest" issue is the only significant difference I've ever found. 2. Thank you for explaining!.. Netscape Navigator came with my computer too..I just happened to choose OE when I first set everything up..Is it possible to have both OE and Netscape set up and then use Netscape for my "digest" mail?..Also wondering how Netscape compares to OE, other than being able to read mail "inline"..If I can't use both, perhaps I'll just switch.. I've forwarded some of my larger "digests" (20 or more) to my Hotmail account and read them "inline" there..Only problem is I have to be "online" to read "inline" :-) Thank you again.. Claudia.. you wrote....clip..... ..if digests are sent in MIME, we don't have the option to read them inline, which is what it's called when it comes as all one message. (Netscape does; you can tell it you want to do that and it will convert them.)
