    2. Robert Hays
    3. Hi Dick ,,,, been awhile. ,,,,, I don't know how to print that error message and no way to experiment, but you can get the same information by activating Drwatson.exe found in your C:\windows folder. Check and see if there is already a Drwatson.log, if there is, delete it ,,,, then double click on Drwatson.exe, this will start Drwatson monitoring in the background. ,,,, now do whatever you do to cause the error , when an error occurs, Drwatson will create a log file that contains all the details concerning the error, and it can be opened in any text editor. ,,, You will find the new log file right next to the Drwatson.exe file. 1. Re: [OE] Thank You!!
    2. Robert Hays
    3. Kathy ,,,, it is usually best to keep your programs up to date, the difference between v 5.00 and 5.01 is mostly internal. Every upgrade contains all the past patches and fixes. In case you missed a few of them. Also be aware that the only way to determine which version you have is to look at the build no. For OE 5.01 ,,, click on Help / About ,,,, the ver. # should be 5.00.2919.6600 for ver. 5.01, any other # will be ver. 5.00. For IE 5.01 ,,, click on Help / About ,,,, the ver. # should be 5.00.2919.6307 for ver. 5.01, any other # will be ver. 5.00. These numbers apply only to the ver. 5 series. Don't ask me how MS came up with these #'s for ver. 5.01, I'm not rich enough to think like that. However, if you go to: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com you can download all the components needed for your operating system. I already have IE 5.0 and now will have OE 5.0.1 Thanks Bob - for bringing this to my attention. Best wishes, Carol

Hi Bob, Actually, I am using Outlook Express v. 5.0 for Macintosh and v. 4.72 on the PC. The Macintosh version does not have the items under the TOOLS menu that match your email description. It is very similar to 4.72 in that regard. I had to create all my mail rules (TOOLS/RULES) by hand just like I do in the older PC version I am using. Just a question - has everyone upgraded to v. 5.0? My PC is a HP Pavilion and I bought it last summer. The version I am using came with my machine - WIN 98. Are the new machines shipping with v. 5.0/ v.5.0.1 now? And as I recall, I went over to Microsoft to download the new version for the PC and was only able to download the Macintosh version. 3. <G> I had the same problem when I first started using OE. Go to ,,, Tools / Message Rules / Blocked Senders List / Blocked Senders List Tab ,,, select your Mail List ,,, highlight the ones to remove and click the "Remove" button. NOTE: you can just temporarily un block someone by removing the check mark in the little box on the left. The dangerous option that automaticly puts people on the blocked list is under ,,,, Message / Block Sender ,,, whatever message you have selected when you click on "Block Sender" is put on the Blocked list right then and there. Don't ever click on that option unless you intend to block whoever sent it. Thanks to Carol for trying to help, but be aware that you still have OE v 4.72 which is two versions in the past and there is as much difference between v 4.72 and 5.0 & 5.01 as night & day. It is good to have someone on the list with v 4.72 that is willing to help. I have lost touch with it and can no longer help, so v 4.72 input when it is needed will be VERY welcome. 1. Re: [OE] Blocking senders
    2. Robert Hays
    3. Kathy ,,, Dee & myself just completed an experiment to determine the answer to your question. Our results showed: 1. The senders e-mail is not returned to the sender. 2. No notice of any kind will be sent to the sender that they have been blocked. 3. If the sender asks for a "Read Receipt", they just simply never get one. Keep in mind that when you set up your filter to block someone, DO NOT select the "Do not download it from server" option, if you do, your mail box at the ISP end will eventually fill up and overflow, which will cause you to stop receiving mail from everyone until you empty it. 3. When I open a specific email message, it comes up a smaller than full-screen size message. If I click on the middle box in the upper right hand corner, it will become full screen size. However, the next message I click on becomes the smaller than full-screen size message again. I can never get my message to come up in full screen size. I have heard that if you shut down the email when you were in the full-size screen message that it would come back the full size screen when opened the next time on the first try. But that hasn't worked for me. Is there any option that I can set this to come up full-screen size as a default setting. I have looked under the help index, but can't find it. Any help for me out there? Dee.

    1. [OE] Outlook 98 Tasks - Can it be backed up
    2. Dee Randall
    3. I am using the Tasks portion of Outlook 98 set up in categories. For example I have a several Genealogy categories and then under each lined task under that category, I may have a lot of information. Here is a for instance: just one Category might be: A Genealogy Search Under that Category there might be several lines: One might be Dictionaries; one might be roootsweb URL's; one might be Language Dictionary, etc. Then IN each of those lines when you double click on it, there might be all of the rootsweb URL's that I have collected; All of the different Language Dictionaries that are of interest to me on line; and all of the other types of dictionaries that are of interest. I have 3 full pages at all times of this lined information. This is all usable by me. I don't use the Status, date due; % complete columns, etc. Besides all of my genealogy chores, I keep my shopping lists by town I go to shop in category, my daily chores by category, books I have to buy by category; books I want to check out at the library category; things I have to look up on search engines, etc. Many of these lines under the category heading have lots of information inside that do not show up when printed out. For instance, if I plan a trip to the library, I will go to Category, then to the particular library, then maybe to a particular book at the library and under that I will find what I have copied from the internet to be able to locate the book at the library. My genealogy URL's will print out to 14 pages. So there are some lines under categories that have inside them a lot of information. At best this program is really quirky. For no reason that I can see, it will enter every line twice and then I will have to delete all duplicates, only to find that maybe I've somehow lost a category somewhere. I'm leading up to this: I can't find a way to completely save this task portion part of the program. I am at the point, and have been for some time, that I'm just going to have to go to another program if I can't save it or back it up. I can't believe people in offices use this program without a way to back it up. (At one time, I did loose everything.) I can't afford it several months down the road now. I have looked at other programs, but find none that look as good as this. Although I know that I use only a portion of this program and the email function of this completely interferes with my IE5; sometimes I find an email I have been expecting over on the Outlook 98. Although this only happens occasionally. Does anyone know how to backup TASKS in its entirety. If someone wants to tackle this problem for me, I'll be glad to send an example of a small portion of what I'm doing. Thank you for reading down to this point. If you have, you are some trooper! Sincerely, Dee
