    3. There is a feature in OE that can cause problems along these lines, and that is the "Block Sender" feature. Folks who do not understand what this feature does can inadvertently put someone on that list, and will hence forth have all their incoming mail sent straight to the "Deleted Items" box. This list is also maintained as a separate list and will not be found in your list of rules. To find and view it, click on Tools / Message Rules / Blocked Senders List ,,,, and see if the misplaced sender is listed, if they are, remove them. If they are not on the Blocked Senders list, then examine every thing contained in the headers and body and compare to any Rules they may have set up, it is VERY easy for a well intentioned Rule to have ill results. 3. Robert Hays, I have been using 'Blocked Sender' on spam. Has very little effect for one thing, as senders continually change the address from which they spam us. However, I am wondering about correct way to block domains, and if it really does work. For example: would like to block bigfoot.com. Which will work; entering @bigfoot.com or leaving off the @. I couldn't find very specific information about formats. I also saw something that said Outlook Express really doesn't have an anti-junk mail procedure in place. Maybe I'm wasting my time completely by using Block Sender. Have you any recommendations? 3. Can anyone sched any light on the following. A customer of ours is complaining that incoming messages are going to his deleted items folder instead of his inbox. I know that when someone sends a large messages and breaks them up, it copies all of the split messages in the deleted folder and then recombines it into one in the inbox but they have assured me this is everything. Could it be that they are timing out and because they are receiving duplicates due to them not downloading all the messages at once that the copies are going to the deleted box. 3. When a new message rule is created, there are two options that cover both of your questions. For the Forward, select "Where the subject line contains specific words:", enter ,,, FW: ,,, for the rule trigger. then select the "where the message has an attachment" ,,,,,,,,,,, be sure and put the Boolean Operator OR between the two triggers. ,,,,, select the option concerning what you want to do with them ,,,,, in line 4 (Name of rule) , you can enter any name you want, you do not have to accept the one that is there. Just be aware that filtering on FW: should catch all true Forwards, it will also filter a message that contains the three characters FW: anywhere in the subject line, whether it is a true Forwarded message or not. Also I'm not sure if these filters are case sensitive or not, but if they are, you can string out the triggers to cover all variations : EXP: FW: or Fw: or fw: Under Action to take ,,, do not select the option not to download it from your server, not downloading from your server can cause your mail box to fill up and start bouncing incoming mail. 1. Re: [OE] Sample headers from missing posts
    2. Timothy Braswell
    3. Thank you so much for the explanation. I spent yesterday sending headers to my ISP... every one that came through my computer for each address...we have five!...tee hee hee. I e-mailed support and told them what was happening and that I would send them the headers for examination. After the five-day down time last week, and another "bounce" problem that has been unresolved for several months, I let them know that I was disappointed in the decline of support quality I had recently observed, and would continue to send each header until the situation was resolved..... I stayed busy...the situation seems to be resolved, now, but I still haven't heard from them. They are growing, but I don't think I can cope with their growing pains much longer...I have already been through growing pains with my son (now 11 days shy of 17!)... Not all of the messages I received empty were RootsWeb related, but most were because RootsWeb is the major source of my e-mail. My son received a few, as did my husband, and they don't subscribe to any RootsWeb lists. {I am also known to them for requesting that sites be blocked /unblocked from time-to-time, which they have been very faithful to accommodate as they can.} I spent the rest of my time researching ISPs... I do believe that my other bounce problem may have resolved, too. when I came home from my husband's class last night, I had a post from a cousin i had been trying to reach for several months along with some other e-mail contacts. Praise GOD! I had been sending complaints and headers about that problem, too. If you think you can suggest a good reliable ISP that will filter trash without being "buggy", I will send you a list of "perks" I am investigating. I have been keeping my eyes and ears alert to everything I see, and am trying to narrow my choices. Again, I truly appreciate your help. Jennifer Braswell learning more each day... 3. It is very plain that your ISP has a very screwed up mail server, and until they admit it and fix it, we can beat OE to death and still not accomplish a thing. Your ISP's mail software is making a halfhearted attempt to handle the message and for some reason just quits or filters out the remaining part of the message. It is apparent from what you do get that these blanks are bounce messages from RootsWeb and your ISP does not want to deliver them intact. What you should get in the body would be in two parts, the first part at the top would be the original bounce information from the ISP that bounced the message and giving the reason why it was bounced. The second part is the original headers that was in the message when it bounced. ,,,,,, Then when you go to the message Properties you can extract the second set of headers generated when RW sent you the bounce notice. I took the following from your ISP site: Filtering Philosophy One of the unique features of Integrity Online is that we filter objectionable material. We do that through two different systems. First, we block searches for inappropriate words, and secondly, we block access to inappropriate sites. We believe you will find the filter to be very effective ,,,,,,,, end quote More than likely your ISP also filters viruses & spammers, and believe it or not, RW ends up on a lot of lists as being a spammer due to the very large volume of mail they send out. You are going to have to have it out with your ISP as to why they will not deliver mail from RW intact, specifically, the bounce notices. Bob Hays

    1. Re: [OE] absolutely nothing in the messages npw

    3. It is probably premature but it is beginning to look like the problem is at your ISP or some other mail relay point. From what little info. you have sent me I see from the blank messages that both the Sender and recipient use the same ISP. I assume that all your other mail is displayed as they should, and this tells you that the problem is more than likely not in your machine. There are cases where not having OE set up properly can cause mail to display in weird ways, such as receiving an email in a foreign language and you are not set up to handle it, or someone Replies to a message and don't have the option set to use the same format as the received message, or the option to "Include the original message" in Replies is not set (if the replier fails to type in something, a blank message will be sent). In the meantime, try to collect more clues: 1. Are the blanks in HTML or Plain Text format ,,,, or both 2. Are the blanks New Mail, Replies or Forwards ,,,, or all three You might also call your ISP support and tell them you are receiving blank messages with partial or no headers and ask them if they are having problems with their mail server. Waiting for more info.
