I am looking for "Slim" from Dilley, in the 1930s. Who is/was he? My dad was Francis Jerrett of Dilley, he graduated from FG Union HS in 1934. I am trying to locate "Slim" who would have lived in or near Dilley and this story would have taken place during the Depression. Francis Jerrett and a friend, who probably was "Slim," worked to help support their families. Slim and Francis were two teenage boys who each acquired $2.50 and together they would buy a tree for $5.00 from a farmer who needed the money. Using only hand tools, the two teens would log the tree and it into cord wood, deliver it and collect $10.00 by selling the wood to several people. Each one took half, $5.00 of the $10.00. Each boy gave his family $2.50 and each would then contribute his remaining $2.50 to buy another tree from a farmer and do it all over again. These two were loggers, they had to know how to climb, cut, lower, fell, skills that I know my dad learned some place other than do-it-yourself-school. Francis's one and two man saws are in my home where they are family history, hanging and waiting to have the name of the second pair of hands added to them. .. any help with "Slim's" name?
