The info on railroads was before your grandfather's time. However, there is information about a WILLIAM UNDERWOOD BORN IN England in 1830. He was a carpenter (firm of Kelly & Underwood) and marrried in 1865 Miss C. E. Evans, by whom he had four children - Elenor, William, Margaret and GEORGE G. Perhaps these would be his parents?
