I am aware of only the University of Oregon, Knight Library, in Eugene that has a large collection of newspapers from all over the state on microfilm. They made a special project of collecting. Other newspapers are archived by the publishers in some cases in their places of business. Often newpapers did not know the value of keeping an archive; their collections are hit and miss. A lot of them the actual newspapers do not survive. There is a smaller collection of microfilm at the Oregon Historical Society Library; and also at the Multnomah County Library, downtown main branch in Portland. I have found local newspapers on film at city libraries when doing research in other Oregon communities. The Oregonian is indexed, at the Multnomah County Library; a big name/subject film is kept on the third floor. It is possible that given newspapers have been indexed in their towns of origin. There are other readers of this list that may have more detail.
