I am a Hiatt descendant. Lewis and Jesse Hiatt took a wagon train from Iowa across the Oregon Trail in 1852 and settled in Jackson, then Klamath and eventually made their way up to Washinton State. I know I've heard this story about Joseph and Isaac before but I cannot remember where or from whom. I checked my records but do not have a Caleb or Isaac... sorry. There were a great many Hiatts / Hyatts in the Virginia and Indiana area. If I remember where I heard the story, I'll contact you.
