I noticed that there are several Houghtalings listed. http://www.legacy.com/oregon/Guestbook.asp?Page=Guestbook&PersonID=17797855 HOUGHTALING, CHESTER A Chester A Houghtaling, of Richmond, passed away Saturday, May 13, 2006. Chet was born in Portland, Oregon on May 4, 1922 to Chester A and Mildred K Houghtaling. Following high school graduation in 1940, he enrolled at the University of Portland, at which time he enlisted in the University's USMC ROTC program. Placed on active duty in 1943, he received training at Parris Island boot camp and officers' training school in Quantico, where he was commissioned. During WWII, he served as a communications officer on Guadalcanal, Guam, and China. Returning home, he re-enrolled at the University of Portland and married Elizabeth (Bette) Nolan of Norfolk, Va in 1946, who preceded him in death in 1998. Chet received a BS degree from the University of Portland in 1947, and continued serving in the USMC Reserve until 1954, when he was retired with the rank of Captain. The Houghtaling family moved from Portland to Richmond in 1952. Chet's entire business career was i! nvolved in the marketing of commercial-industrial boiler plant equipment. He was employed (1947-1952) by Iron Fireman Mfg Co and by Massey, Wood & West, Inc (1952-1966). In 1966, he co-founded Power & Heat Systems, Inc, and in 1976 he and his wife founded Houghtaling Associates Inc, now managed by son, Tom and grandson, Scott. Chet is survived by four sons: Chester III and his wife Linda, John and his companion Cherie and her daughter Jackie, Robert and his wife Linda, and Tom; and daughter Laura and her husband Joe Sisk of Cape Carteret, NC. Also grandchildren J Scott Houghtaling with wife Anne Marie, Kevin Houghtaling and companion Elizabeth Peebles, Robert J Houghtaling Jr and his wife Fabiana, Justin M Houghtaling and his wife Christina, Natalie K Sisk and her companion Justin, and Joseph P Sisk; and his sister Nancy with husband Frank Kreutz of Beaverton, Oregon. The family will receive friends at the Central Chapel of Bliley Funeral Homes, 3801 Augusta Ave from 7 to 9! pm on Monday. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 1 pm Tuesday. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Benedictine High School, 304 N Sheppard St, Richmond, Va. 23221. Published in The Oregonian on 5/17/2006.
