Many thanks for the information. Hobart & Bessie Patterson were in the 1930 census of Aberdeen, South Dakota with Joy, Hazel, Bonita and Dale ages 8 down to 1. I expected to find him there and was surprised when he turned up in Oregon. I have a hunch the girls probably married in SD, but since the 1930 census is the last we have, don't know when they might have moved.... Thanks again and I'll keep looking. Flavia
