    3. I am looking for information on a "Boose Quarry" where my grandfather worked in the late 1890s. He lived in Forest Grove and Buxton. Is there an archive for this Boose name? Thanks, Jean Rotter Judith E. 3. I have noted in the early newspaper of Forest Grove "That the Boos Quarry was making grave stones of first rate..." I did not find it just now. In Forest View Cemetery, Lot 67 are: Andrew Boos 1850 - 1931 Anna T 1854-1942 along with J. George 1852-1953 John Boos died 18 May 1928 These death occurred in a period in which I do not have obits copied. However this does not tell you much about the Quarry, or its location. It would take some research. I would venture that the Boos family of the quarry is different than the Boose mentioned in Hazel Boose Wood obit. 3. More Boos From a Booklet "Cherry Grove A History - Birgetta Nixon 1977 "Boos Quarry - The old quarry on Scoggin Road two and one-half miles northwest of Gaston was owned by J.G. Boos, Mrs. Josephine Fleischhauer of Gaston contributed a small picture (1915). George Boos of Milwaukie is a grandson of Mr. and Mrs. J.G. Boos. He was reared by them at the old Quarry site and has given Pacific University the family photographs for historical purposes." Pacific University, 2043 College Way, Forest Grove, Oregon 97116 503-357-6151 www.pacific.edu Another local resident says: The stone for Marsh Hall on the Campus of Pacific University came from the Boos Quarry. Sandstone, same as used in the Pioneer Post Office Building in Portland, OR (6th and Alder). An elderly former resident is living at a retirement home in Forest Grove; and is possibly a source of more material. I will supply that if you contact me privately.
