Rachel died 22 Feb 1908 Washington Co, Oregon (Oregon Death Index) while Andrew died 18 Mar 1922 Portland, Multnomah Co, Oregon (Oregon Death Index) after two more marriages which both ended in divorce ("Autobiography of Miss Kitty May Ellis", copyright 2005, edited Will Johnson, privately printed.) They had two children that I know of: 1) Perry Ellis b Oct 1866 Iowa died 10 Jan 1932 Marion Co, Oregon (Oregon Death Index) married 17 Mar 1909 (Oregon Marriage Index) to Josephine R Laws b abt 1890 Illinois (1910 census) children: Roberta Ellis 1910, Evelyn Ellis 1911, Elma Ellis 1913 2) Kitty May Ellis b 6 Sep 1869 "During a Cyclone, 16 miles north of Eldora, Hardin Co, Iowa" ("Autobiography", op cit.) died 1963 in Clearview, Snohomish Co, Washington. In Sep 1879 the family moved to Tarkio, Atchison Co, Missouri. They stayed in Missouri for 3 1/2 years and in Mar 1883 moved on to Spokane Falls, Washington (state). There is or was a post office called Ellis and they are said by Kitty to have lived in that place. They did not stay in Ellis PO long and next appear in my records in 1900 Hillsboro, District 157, page 1B, Washington Co, Oregon. Rachel died in that county in 1908 but I have not yet found Andrew in the 1910 census. Kitty, Perry and his new wife however are there in Washington Co. Perry and Kitty were both committed to the Salem Mental Hospital, Salem, Marion Co, Oregon and Perry is still there in the 1920 and 1930 census. I have not found Kitty in 1920 but in 1930 she is in Portland, Multnomah Co, Oregon working as a Practical Nurse for a private family. Since this is where her father died, it's possible she is living there for that reason. Her brother however did not die until 1932. Miss Kitty May Ellis stayed in Portland until 1941 supposedly and then moved on to Clearview, Snohomish Co, Washington where she lived until her death at the age of 94. She never married and states that her father was such a bull-headed and intolerable brute that she never wanted to have any children for fear of passing on this characteristic. She wrote over a hundred notebooks that constitute her diary and I am in the long process of sorting out the interesting from the dull. Part of this has been privately published but doesn't give much details on her ancestors. The earliest known place for them is Hardin Co, Iowa but I cannot find them there in the 1870 census nor anywhere else, and cannot find them yet in the 1880. So if any of this sounds familiar or if anyone can add details from various lookups, I would appreciate that
