Zola Bartholomew and Wetzel Finney and Mrs. Jetra Bailey Hi Guys, I'm looking for the family of Wetzel I. Finney, b. June 28, 1897 in Portland, Oregon, d. August 22, 1944 in Dayton, Ohio. He married, my great aunt, Romelia Catharine Rowe July 5, 1927 in Dayton and had no offspring. I have a few clues, but I don't know how they fit in: Romelia referred to Grandma Bartholomew, and has a photograph from the 1930's showing "Mrs. Bartholomew, Wetzel Finney, and Zola Bartholomew." Other pictures refer to her as "Grandma Bartholomew" My Aunt Eleanor recently told me that she was Wetzel's grandmother, so now I'm curious how the Bartholomew family ties into the Finney line. Wetzel also had a sister Mrs. Jetra Bailey. I checked in his Memorial book and apparently no members of the Finney or Bartholomew family attended his funeral. FWIW, Zola Bartholomew died Feb. 1969 in Washington County, Oregon. Also, is there any chance that there would be a birth certificate available for Wetzel at a courthouse or any such place? I don't need the certificate, but I would like his parent's names, which I have been unable to find. If someone there could be so kind as to check his parent's names for me, I'd be very grateful, as I currently live in SE Ohio and have no future plans of genealogy in Oregon, as he's my only connection to your beautiful state. I have no information on Wetzel's Finney family, other than what I have above. His obituary reads: "Wetzel I. Finney, 47, known as one of Dayton's leading theater organists, died at 9:40 a.m. today at his residence 920 Harvard boulevard, following a 10 month illness. Born in Portland, Ore., he came to Dayton in 1916 and had been employed in the production office of Delco Products division, General Motors corporation, for 10 years. He was the first reader in the First Church of Christ, Scientist, and was well known in musical circles. The last theater organ he played was the huge three-manual Moeller organ at Loew's Dayton theater, which he played six years before the onrush of 'talkies.' Surviving are his wife, Romelia R.; a sister, Mrs. Jetra Bailey; two nieces and a nephew. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Whitmer Brothers funeral home. Ray Lawyer will read the Christian Science service and burial will be in Woodland cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. tomorrow." Thanks in advance for any information that you may be able to provide me with. Linda Tope Trent lindatrent@zoomnet.net http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/t/r/e/Linda-L-Trent-OH/
