Now, I know I'm "behind the times". I haven't been to the LDS site for a while. Have they put up census records that they normally charge for? Hi gang, I should have included the information provided by Christina. Thanks Christina. http://www.familysearch.org/ I am informed these files are normally open to members. I wasn't sure what this was so I took a look. It seems that the Familysearch.org website is making the 1880 American and 1881 Canadian censuses available as a part of Family History month. These are also on CD for purchase. Also available the 1881 British Census. Slan go foill, do chara Donald O'Collaugh Kelly --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Zola Bartholomew and Wetzel Finney and Mrs. Jetra Bailey Hi Guys, I'm looking for the family of Wetzel I. Finney, b. June 28, 1897 in Portland, Oregon, d. August 22, 1944 in Dayton, Ohio. He married, my great aunt, Romelia Catharine Rowe July 5, 1927 in Dayton and had no offspring. I have a few clues, but I don't know how they fit in: Romelia referred to Grandma Bartholomew, and has a photograph from the 1930's showing "Mrs. Bartholomew, Wetzel Finney, and Zola Bartholomew." Other pictures refer to her as "Grandma Bartholomew" My Aunt Eleanor recently told me that she was Wetzel's grandmother, so now I'm curious how the Bartholomew family ties into the Finney line. Wetzel also had a sister Mrs. Jetra Bailey. I checked in his Memorial book and apparently no members of the Finney or Bartholomew family attended his funeral. FWIW, Zola Bartholomew died Feb. 1969 in Washington County, Oregon. Also, is there any chance that there would be a birth certificate available for Wetzel at a courthouse or any such place? I don't need the certificate, but I would like his parent's names, which I have been unable to find. If someone there could be so kind as to check his parent's names for me, I'd be very grateful, as I currently live in SE Ohio and have no future plans of genealogy in Oregon, as he's my only connection to your beautiful state. I have no information on Wetzel's Finney family, other than what I have above. His obituary reads: "Wetzel I. Finney, 47, known as one of Dayton's leading theater organists, died at 9:40 a.m. today at his residence 920 Harvard boulevard, following a 10 month illness. Born in Portland, Ore., he came to Dayton in 1916 and had been employed in the production office of Delco Products division, General Motors corporation, for 10 years. He was the first reader in the First Church of Christ, Scientist, and was well known in musical circles. The last theater organ he played was the huge three-manual Moeller organ at Loew's Dayton theater, which he played six years before the onrush of 'talkies.' Surviving are his wife, Romelia R.; a sister, Mrs. Jetra Bailey; two nieces and a nephew. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Whitmer Brothers funeral home. Ray Lawyer will read the Christian Science service and burial will be in Woodland cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. tomorrow." Thanks in advance for any information that you may be able to provide me with. Linda Tope Trent lindatrent@zoomnet.net http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/t/r/e/Linda-L-Trent-OH/
Hi, List, Looking for information on a Andrew J. Nickum who had the Oakland Mill, and information H. M Nickum who had the Nickum & Kelly Sand and Gravel Co. Thank you for your time.
Yesterday at a Web site (http://home.inreach.com/wboss/durham.htm), I found this information: Albert Alanso Durham b. 15 mar 1814, Genesee co., NY m. Miranda Almira White, 6 Nov 1836, Geauga Co., OH d. 4 Apr 1898, Fanno Creek, Washington, Oregon (founded the town Lake Oswego, Oregon and the town Durham Mills, near Portland was named for him.) one of the siblings listed for him was: Sylvester Alfasszo Durham b. 8 sep 1818, New York m. 30 sep 1841, Elizabeth Parker, Pickaway Co., Oh I believe this Sylvester may be my ggg-grandfather. My Sylvester married in Ohio about 1841 and then moved to Shelby Co, MO > Neosho Co, Kansas. I am hoping by finding more information on Albert Durham that I will be able to prove that my Sylvester was his brother, and therefore extend that line back a few more generations! If anyone is connected with this family, please contact me. Your help would be greatly appreciated and I, of course, would be willing to share any information I have about Sylvester and his family. Does anyone know about any Tualatin newspapers available in 1912 or by 1918? I believe Tualatin was incorporated in 1913. Joani
A list of the oregon newspapers on microfilm are listed at the following address. http://libweb.uoregon.edu/preservn/ONPTitles.html You can borrow these through interlibrary loan. Good luck with your research
Joani, Oregon death certificates started in 1903 but they are very sketchy until 1920---I'm not sure what Washington co. information shows as the death certificates are State certificates and kept at the department of Health for 50 years then sent to the state archieves. the information that is kept in Wa. county would seem to be transcribed material into ledgers rather than the actual documents. If you have the dates, and they are before 1951 then the death certificates are at the State archieves here in Salem. I would be glad to go over and get those copies for you. I would need the date and name and county of death. If you do not have the county I can look that up but need the name---the date would help to verify that I am getting the right people---After Jan 1. of 2003 the 1952 certificates will be at the archieves. In the meantime send me the names and dates and I will see if there is a certificate for them at the health department or at the archieves. clara On Tue, 23 Jul 2002 23:14:47 EDT JHami828@aol.com writes: > I need death records for some people buried in Tualatin. I found the following information on line. Does this mean that there are no death records for Tigard & Sherwood until 1929? Or does it mean that this particular Washington County site only has death records starting in 1929? Does anyone have a phone number for the Washington County Main Street Records Storage Building? Thanks, Joani Washington County Main Street Records Storage Building: Birth and Death Record [with index], 1915-1923 (1 volume); Record of Births and Deaths [District no. 81-includes births only until 1936], 1916-1946 (1 volume); Record of Births and Deaths [District no. 93 Tigard Sherwood-includes births only until 1929], 1915-1939 (1 volume); Record of Births and Deaths [District no. 94-includes births only until 1931], 1915-1939(1 volume); Record of Births and Deaths [District no. 95 Beaverton-includes births only until 1924], 1916-1934 (1 volume); Record of Deaths [includes only two deaths after 1915-with index], vol. 1, 1903-1926 (1 volume).
I need death records for some people buried in Tualatin. I believe they had last lived in Sherwood. Where would I go to get copies of the death records? Joani
