It's not in Tigard (Beaverton, I think) but there are quit a few Loslis there. I will try to remember to ask about Albert Losli the next time I get over to the Tigard cemetery. Candace

I've misplaced my notes on the cemetery, but if I find them I'll post again and let you know if I see the name there. I don't know when I'll get back but I could check in the office at the cemetery as well. I have a Swiss line and I checked that but LOSLI isn't one of my names.

    2. Thanks to Don and Judith, In answer to my request for information about the Ezra Strain family of Dilley precinct a big thank you to Don for his information and especially for volunteering to check out the cemeteries if a volunteer didn't answer. You must be a dedicated genealogist. However, Judith answered with information and obituaries which made not only myself, but several cousins very happy. It was more than we expected to find and we appreciate the response so much. It has added much to our family history. My grateful thanks to dedicated volunteers. Virginia, in Wisconsin

    3. Ezra Strain has an obit in the Forest Grove Time, Oct 18, 1900 Mr. Ezra Strain buried Congregational Cemetery. Grandfather of the editor of this paper. Died at his home in Dilley, Thursday 18 Oct 1900. Born near Hilltown, Mercer County, PA, went with parents to Putnam Co., Ohio in early childhood. From thence to Iowa in 1850 where he spent the greater part of his life and in 1859 married Mrs. Henrietta Howe. Leaves wife at Dilley. Daughter: Mrs. Alice H. Pratt of Forest Grove, and her children. Also 2 brothers and 2 sisters now living Iowa. _________________________ The original Congregational Cemetery was located on the grounds of Pacific University, in Forest Grove. The burials that could be located and identified were moved to Forest View Cemetery. Forest View is located at the western edge of Forest Grove; and is only about 3 or 4 miles from the community of Dilley. It is possible that a section of Forest View was called the Congregational Cemetery by 1900. Records of Forest View are being compiled for publication.) ___________________________________________________________ Records of ForestView Cemetery: Strain, Ezra 10 April - 18 Oct 1900 gravestone Lot 17, gr 8 Strain, Henrietta no marker Lot 17, gr 9 Strain, John James, interred 29 Jan 1971, age 75 years, Blk 8, Lot 5A, gr 2 ____________________________________________________________________________ Hillsboro Argus Jan 26, 1905 page 3 col 1 Mrs. Henrietta Strain, age 68, died at home of her daughter, University Park, (Portland) Jan 25, 1905. For sometime Mrs. Strain has been living with her daughter Mrs. Alice Pratt, wife of Ross Pratt, formerly the editor of the Forest Grove Times. __________________________________________________________________________ Judy Goldmann VAMcRains@aol.com wrote: > > Hi Listers, > > I am new to your list but hope someone can help. > > I am searching for death dates and location of Ezra STRAIN and his wife > Henrietta. > I found them last in the 1900 census in Dilley precinct with Ezra at age 70 > and Henrietta at age 63. 1. [WASHINGTON] DILLEY PRECINCT
    2. Hi Listers, I am new to your list but hope someone can help. I am searching for death dates and location of Ezra STRAIN and his wife Henrietta. I found them last in the 1900 census in Dilley precinct with Ezra at age 70 and Henrietta at age 63. Is there a cemetery in this area that has been canvassed that might have their graves listed. I assume that at this age this area might be there final resting place. I know I should never "assume" and I know they moved from their birthplace of Ohio , to Iowa and then to Oregon. I would certainly appreciate it if anyone could give me any help or clue as to where to search next. Thanks in advance Virginia, in Wisconsin

    3. Dilley is a small farming community about five miles south of Forest Grove on highway 47. I don't know if precinct Dilley is the same as town Dilley. Our website http://www.rootsweb.com/~orwashin/cemlist.html does not show a cemetery with Dilley as part of the name, but the town has a small number of churches, so I assume a cemetery there somewhere. We have about six volunteers who are transcribing all cemeteries in Washington County, so if one of them can't get out there to check for a cemetery, I'll drive out there myself. The nearest cemetery to Dilley I know of was moved when Hagg Lake was dammed up a few years ago. I believe the graves were moved to one of the cemeteries around Forest Grove, but I am unsure which. The main cemetery in Forest Grove has burials in one corner as old as 1835. Charlotte was first married to William Cardwell and had Allen and Janice. Charlotte died 8-1997 in Beaverton, OR. She had married Gene Ellison after her divorce from Clayton and Gene adopted the girls. I've been told that two of the girls, Patricia and Rebecca still live in the Beaverton/Portland area, and that Darlene lives in CA. I don't have their married names and would really like to be able to contact them. I've not seen them for 50 years. Does anyone know of this family? Any help would be appreciated.
