Medford is in Jackson County, Oregon. Your best bet would be to go to Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness http://www.raogk.org/faq-requesters.htm There are five volunteers for Jackson county listed as well as a person who will do Oregon Death Lookups 1903-2000. These volunteers mostly charge for the cost of copying so the service is not totally free, but a very good deal! However, they work only in their selected area of study so please do be exact in your request as you have been below. Good luck in your research... There are thousands of opportunites like this out there that promise the same things, why should this be any different? Well, for one, you only lose $6 and 6 stamps in the worst case scenario. But that won't happen, as with many things, if you just try. Results will obviously vary depending on how committed you are, but THIS IS IT. It doesn't get any easier. Make $6 turn into thousands in less than 2 months! Believe, and it will be so! Dear Friends: Greetings: I am a retired attorney. A few years ago a man came to me with a letter. He asked me to verify the fact that this was legal to do. I told him I would review it and get back to him. When I first read the letter my client brought me, I thought it was some “off-the-wall” idea to make money. A week and a half later we met in my office to discuss the issue. I told him the letter he originally brought me was not 100% legal. My client then asked me! > to alter it to make it perfectly legal. I asked him to make one small change in the letter. I was still curious about the letter, so he explained to me how it works. I thought it seemed like a long shot, so I decided against participating. But before my client left, I asked him to keep me updated on his results. About two months later, he called me to tell me he had received over $800,000 in cash. I didn’t believe him, so he asked me to try this idea and find out for myself. I thought about it for a couple of days and decided I really didn’t have anything to lose, so I asked him for a copy of the letters. I followed the instructions exactly, mailed 200 copies, and sure enough, the money started coming in! It arrived slowly at first, but coming. I kept a precise record of the earnings, and in the end, it totaled $978,493! I could hardly believe it. I met with my friend for lunch to find out exactly how it worked. He told me there are quite a few similar lett! > ers around, but this one is different because there are six names at t > he end of the letter, not five like some others. This fact alone results in your name being in far more returns. The other fact was the help I gave him, making sure the whole thing was legal, since no one wants to take the risk of doing something illegal. By now you are surely curious to know what small changes to make. If you sent a letter like this one out, in order to be completely legal, you must actually sell something in order to receive a dollar in return. So when you send a dollar to each of the names on the list, you must include these words, “PLEASE PUT ME ON YOUR MAILING LIST” and include your name and address. This is the key to the program. The item you will receive for the dollar you sent to the six people below is the letter. At the time I first tried this idea, I was earning a good living as a lawyer. He was the 3rd Sheriff of Wasco County, Oregon at The Dalles, Oregon in 1855. I show him as a medical doctor and a native of Iowa. He first came to Oregon in 1852 as one of the first doctors in the county. He was appointed to Justice of the Peace after leaving the Sheriff's office and returned to the Portland, Oregon area in late 1856. Dr. Shaug lived in the Chenowith area in The Dalles and operated a ferry on the Deschutes River. He later farmed near the mouth of Five-Mile Creek in The Dalles. Land claim lists his wife as Ruth, whom he supposedly married in 1841 in Virginia. He had a son Edward born 1857 in Oregon and another son born in 1852. I also show him with daughters Louisa 1844, Wilda 1848, Elvira 1855 and a daughter born in 1859 according to the 1860 Oregon Census of Washington County at Hillsboro. My information indicates he was born circa 1823 in Ohio. This Charles Shaug shows a wife Mary J. born 1828 in Illinois, with daughter Mary born 1849 in Iowa, Caroline born 1852 in Oregon, Ione born 1859 in Oregon. He was the first Noble Grand of the Lodge in 1856. A street called Shaug Way was named after him.

I am now doing genealogical research on him and I have some info. He moved to San Luis Obispo around 1862 from Oregon and I havecopy of his 1870 Census there, and I am trying to find records on him in that area. His son born around 1850-51 was Alexander Shaug, my 2 great grandfathers (I think). Dr. Shaug was the son of William Henry Shaug (father) and Hanna Sherwood (mother) who was a direct descendant of William Bradford, Governor of the Plymouth Colony and Mayflower travelor 1620. I too would like copies of any photographs of Dr. Shaug. He and his family were also a 1852 DLC Oregon Trail travelors. I am pretty sure his son Edward G. Shaug died on July 4, 1885 in Las Vegas NM and is buried there(I am currently working on more information) Please contact me , perhaps we can compare information.

The Parsons Family Cemetery is also known as Oak Knoll Cemetery. It is located about two miles west of Forest Grove, now surrounded by the Hines Nursery. One must go to the office, located along Richtie Road, about a mile from the city limits, there ask persmission to enter. There will likely be no problem with this, but the Nursery must know who is entering the premesis. The cemetery was restored in 2000 by family members with assistance from the Nursery, and has markers for those that have been identified as being buried there. I have information on the other cemeteries mentioned in the e-mail, as well.Let me know closer to the time of your trip. My Grandfather had a brother named Horace Dorrien who was born in Cornelius Oregon in October of 1894. Horace died in Raymond,Washington January of 1919. As I understand the family story he had just come from WW1 and got the flu. He like the rest of the family I believe would have been buried in Portland or the general area. I was wondering if there may be a birth or death notice in a Portland area news paper for Horace. His only sibling was my grandfather James Kenneth Dorrien also born in Cornelius Dec 20 of 1890. He died in California and I have his death information but have also never seen a birth notice on him. The parents of both of the boys were: James Thomas Dorrien and Alma L. "Brown" Dorrien

Dear Tony: I know a little about this Smith family; Nancy and her son Jerone are buried in Harrison Cemetery. I have those records. Nancy was sister to Mrs. Benjamin Cornelius, Sr. Also buried in Harrison. William E. Smith was a minister who performed many marriages in Washington County. He is buried in the Tualatin Plains Presbyterian Church cemetery. I will be glad to look into other sources, please contact me at gate736@spiritone.com Judy Goldmann Tony Arnold wrote: > > Hi, > > I am searching for information on the above family or anyone that might be > connected to them. Few genealogy emails today, but lots of spam. Merry Christmas to all. At http://www.rootsweb.com/~orwashin/index.html Today I had time to work on Washington County GenWeb and with permission added a census section to the website. Find Federal census years 1850 and 1860 by Maggie's Census Project. Find links to Lorie Verboort's 1920 Federal census for two precints in the county. If anyone has more census or cemetery transcriptions they want to share, send them by attachment and I will be glad to put them all up. For census we need transcriptions or images for everything between 1860 and 1920. Enjoy and I hope it helps. Thanks a bunch and everyone have a great new year.
