    3. One step is to check church records of their religion. You would have to know what denomination of church first, and the town the church was in would help. OR Washington County Courthouse in Hillsboro, OR would keep civil records. 503 846 8888 for record repository info. ----- Original Message ----- From: <dseif@jvil.com> To: <ORWASHIN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, April 10, 2005 10:31 AM Subject: [OR-WASHINGTON CO] "Osterman" in Oregon > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Surnames: Osterman > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/5cB.2ACI/666 > > Message Board Post: > > Bernard and Rosa Osterman moved from Greene Co., IL to Washington Co., > Oregon. I guess this deviates from my original posting, since I in the first place wanted to confirm where Cora was born. If it was in Washington, Oregon or in the state of Washington. I guess the answer should be Washington, the state. I have posted a query there. But thank you again for all your aid! Berta

It is nice to get the geography pointed out since I do not know the specifics. The reason is of course that I do not live in the USA. It has been a while since I have posted this message, but I have not yet "found" Cora in any way.. Did she marry? Did she get any children? And where was she born.. But once again thank you for your comments.

However, it is possible that she actually was born in Washington state. Multnomah county, which includes Portland is right across the Columbia River from Washington state so it would have been a very easy move for Cora's family. Good luck on your search.
