    2. I think that the map for Cooper Mountain Cemetery on Grabhorn Road, near 190th and Miller Hill Road is the one pictured at: _http://www.epodunk.com/cgi-bin/genInfo.php?locIndex=150284_ (http://www.epodunk.com/cgi-bin/genInfo.php?locIndex=150284) You will need to zoom in and scroll up slightly to see the names of all of the roads. 3. I received a nice email from Anne on this list regarding my search for Cooper Mountain Cemetery. After reading it and thinking and searching some more, I found that there is another Cooper Mountain Cemetery, on Grabhorn Rd. Look at: http://members.tripod.com/dgrawrock/Cemeteries/Cooper%20Mountain.htm It turns out that that cemetery had been transcribed and I did find my wife's ancestors in that list. I tried to look on Google Earth for that cemetery but I can't find anything that looks like a cemetery on Grabhorn Road. Does any know about this cemetery and could maybe tell me a cross street or some other info so I can locate it? Also, does anyone know who owned this cemetery or who maintains it now? (my wife's ancestors buried there are Laura and Thomas Young and George and Mary Miller. - anyone related to them? Thanks, Mark DiVecchio PS: My family web site is at: http://www.silogic.com/genealogy/genealogy.html -- Mark DiVecchio K3FWT markd@san.rr.com http://www.silogic.com My Genealogy Web Stie : http://www.silogic.com/genealogy/genealogy.html

    2. Re your question about Cooper Mountain Cemetery: See: _http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/or/washington/cemeteries/coopmtcc.txt_ (http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/or/washington/cemeteries/coopmtcc.txt) which lists the names of those markers remaining at the cemetery and states: "A list of markers read in 1968 was published in St. Cecelia’s Parish’s "The First Century: A History of Catholic Life in the Beaverton Area, 1876-1976" (Oregon: the parish, 1976) [Family History Library US/CAN Book Area 979.5 A1 no. 142; Film 1321491, Item 1], p. 66." and, "The Cooper Mountain Catholic Cemetery served Sts. Peter and Paul Mission Church, part of St. Cecelia’s Parish (Beaverton, Oregon). Sts. Peter and Paul was established in 1902 on a couple acres on the top of Cooper Mountain. The church, built at the east side of the parcel, has long since disappeared. What remains is the cemetery with about 25 stones. Most stones are legible. All but a few are quite covered with lichens and moss. All but those noted below face south." A search for the Parish address turned up: St. Cecilia 5105 SW Franklin Ave., Beaverton, OR 97005 503-644-2619 FAX 503-626-7204 email: _general@stcecilia.pvt.k12.or.us_ (mailt:%20general@stcecilia.pvt.k12.or.us) _www.stceciliachurch.org_ (http://www.stceciliachurch.org) Wishing you success in your search. 3. I'm hoping someone on this list can help me. My wife's family moved to Washington Co in the early 1890's. I've been tracing her family and have found out a lot of new information. I've started a simple web site at: http://www.silogic.com/clarno/Bette%20Baker.htm I've been able to get death certs from the Oregon State Archives for several of her ancestors. Four or five are buried at Cooper Mountain Cemetery located on the northeast corner of SW Kemmer Rd. and SW 190th Ave., Aloha, Oregon. I prevailed on my sister-in-law who lives in Beaverton to visit the cemetery. She did and sent me several photos: http://www.silogic.com/clarno/Cooper%20Mountain%20Cemetery,%20Aloha,%20OR.htm The cemetery was still there but no tombstones from our family. From the death certs, these people should be buried there: Eliza Smith died:6 Aug 1920 buried:7 Aug 1920 Cooper Mountain Mary Alice Smith Miller died:19 May 1925 buried:22 May 1925 Cooper Mountain Laura Ann Smith Baker Young died:28 Dec 1930 buried: ?? George Miller died:22 Dec 1929 buried:24 Dec 1929 Cooper Mountain Thomas Young died:9 Dec 1944 buried 14:Dec 1944 Cooper Mountain Do you know of any resource which has records for that cemetery or a plot map or anything to confirm my wife's ancestors burial location? One of Benjamin's and Rachel's daughters, Sarah, was married to Powers. I know a little bit about Benjamin and Rachels children as some of them are listed in the newspaper article about the pistol duel. Also, Sarah and the 2 daughters she had with Powers lived with her family following the incident. So I have some census records of the family after 1881. Beyond that I don't know much about the Cornelius family. Both of Sarah and John Powers daugthers had difficulties/tragedy as young adults. Daughter Minnie died in a shipwreck of a steamship about 6 months after she married. The other daughter, Maude, was widowed young and was in an accident that left her disfigured. I'd be happy to send you further info if you need it.

I have just begun looking into my family- Benjamin Cornelius b. 1802, who was married to Elizabeth Adams. They had 7 children and came to Oregan across the "Meek Cut-off". They had a Benjamin Cornelius born in 1831, and married to Racheal McKinney. My realitive was a younger brother John Henry b. 1843. Could this be the same family?

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/5cB.2ACI/709.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Charlie Glenn Thompson Born Sept 22, 1920 in Glen Cove, Texas Died June 2, 1992 Gerald Champion Hospital, Alamogordo New Mexico. Military service: 10/6/1942 Alamogordo NM (unmarried) to 1/9/1946 Portland, OR., (married by 1946) 6/26/1946 Portland OR to 8/30/1949 Klamath Falls, OR 9/23/1942 entered Army. Dates are confusing. On 26 June 1946 he entered the Army in Portland Oregon, his second enlistment. Note that his brother Neil Thompson lived in Oregon ten years earlier. His sister, Claudine Carey lived in Oregon at 414 North Main St, Ashland, Oregon in 1946. He was married by 1946 to Bernice (Mc Cracken) and they had a (step)son, Carl E. Mc Cracken, her son by a previous marriage. Charlie and Bernice lived in Hillsboro, Oregon at address Box 356 in 1946. In Alamogordo, NM on 13 July 1942 he enlisted in the US Engineers as a Rodman. Note: His brother, Neil, was a surveyor. He had at that time a high school education but no years completed in college. Thus it can be said he married Bernice between 1942 and 1946. He was in the hospital 12 Nov 1943 at AAF Station 169 APO 638 for pneumonia and related illnesses. By 22 Aug 1949 he lived near Klamath Fall Oregon and received a physical exam at that time. He was 71 ½ inch tall and weighted 181 pounds. Report does not state his martial status. He was admitted to the Sheridan WY VA Hospital 1-12-1954. He may have been divorced by this time. By 1984 records show that he was divorced. jcnreno@sbcglobal.net

I've never done research in Oregon. I found some lookup volunteers on the net but none for Washington Co. I'll also check the FHC for microfilm. That may be the easiest and less costly. There must have been a military base in that county in 1942 as my uncle entered the Army there and apparently married while in the service nearby. Charles
