There were ten or more. Rasmus' father's name was Anders O. Torland and the mother's was Berte or Bertha M. Dalen. Some of the family members immigrated to the US while others remained in Norway. My ggm was Ida (inge) Torland Schimmel, the sister of Rasmus.
I've "rescued" an old photograph of Anna May BENNETT which was taken at the Tollman Studio in Vancouver, Washington. The photograph appears to have been taken in the early 1900's with Anna likely in her 20's at the time it was taken. In addition to her name, someone has written "Gladys Mother's sister" on the back of the photograph. Based on limited research I believe that this may be a photograph of Annie May BENNETT b. 25 Apr 1885 in Hillsboro, Oregon to parents Silas BENNETT and Sophia HILLER. Annie first married Robert Garibaldi SHAND on 25 Sept 1915 in Clark Co., WA. Annie appears to have married two more times, her second marriage to W. R. GOODING, and her third to Wellington NOLAN. Annie died 23 Jan 1954 in Portland, OR and is buried there. I'm hoping to locate someone from this family so that this wonderful old photograph can be returned to the care of family.
