This will give you info on obtaining a death certificate (you should be able too - they are only restricted for 50 years after date of death). All the certs I have abtained contain burial info if they were buried in the Portland area. I am going to the Oregon Historical Society tomorrow to do some research, I will search for an obit on him...it may say were he is buried - and save you some cash (death certs. Are $20, but I believe if you request via fax/e-mail, it is actually more and could take a lot longer to get). Laurie Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. You will need to contact them, with the following information. Date of death if you have it, or at least a close time period. place of death--if you know it-- as they are filed by county and date Complete name of person Do not use the certificate number as that is NOT how they are filed. Volunteers do the work so be patient as they get lots of requests. Certificates less than 50 years are available from the Dept. of Health in Portland, Oregon, The last I heard they were $17.50 --there may now be some restrictions as to who can obtain them but I have not heard of any so far. Also writing to the undertaker, if you know who handled the services often gives your even more information, including pall bearers, who ordered the service, who paid for it, relatives and in some cases who sent flowers etc. Depends on the undertaker, I have had various responses. The State archives has a web site. It does not have the death index on it,however does have some other indexes. Also if you have access to Ancestry.com, they have the Oregon death index on it. State Archives sites, also address and information http://genealogy.state.or.us/<http://genealogy.state.or.us/>--- this one brings up the index http://genealogy.state.or.us/start.lasso?location=search<http://genealogy.state.or.us/start.lasso?location=search> this one brings up the various other files offered at the achieves.
