As a native Oregonian, in fact my grandmother was born here, I am still laughing at your questions about our weather. It DOESN'T rain here all the time. Not even in Portland. The past year we set records for dryness, which wasn't at all good for some crops. Of course, we sometime perpetuate these rumors to keep Oregon from being overrun with people from other places. It is NOT wet and dreary her nor in the state of Washington. I don't know the rates for suicide, but I know it's not high. And certainly probably 0% giving the weather as a reason. Thanks for the laughs. Jean Rotter Marianne wrote: > Dear listers, > Just out of curiosity, I wonder what the year around weather in the central > farming areas of Washington County are like. Thanks so much. I am looking for the burial record of Eleanor Wooley (wife of Jacob Wooley), died sometime after 1880. Also trying to find where Jacob is buried. I would imagine they should be somewhere near Henry Buxton, Jr. and wife Rosanna Wooley Buxton - my 2gr grandparents. Its me again Jean, I found a possible death listing for Walter D. Smiths son Alvin---as its on the Oregon Death index don't know where the burial was--but possibly Fir Lawn Alvin L. Smith born Nov 1906 died Sept 11, 1973 Washington co. wife listed as Leona no other information---wonder if he is buried in same plot as Walter or near? Thanks again clara
Thanks Jean, The person that I am interested in is Walter D. Smith born Aug 8, 1880 and died Sept 6, 1947 according to the Oregon Death certificate he was buried at Fir Lawn Cem. Hillsboro. His wife's name was Catherine or Katherine but don't know her last name. she may be the one that died Sept 4, 1963 and I suppose was buried there also??? It appears that they also had children listed in the 1920 census named Alvin L. 13, Laura m. 8 and Katherine 4 and 10 months. ---don't know if they or anyone else are buried in the same plot. any information regarding these people would be appreciated. clara
There are five or six cemeteries already transcribed and hot linked. You may have a browser problem because as of 6:15 PST they all loaded immediately. The aim is to eventually have all cemeteries transcribed and hot linked, but that is well beyond the capabilities of one person, it takes a lot of volunteer transcribers. If anyone has some of those cemeteries already transcribed, we wall happily put them on line. The indexes are already there, just need the beef.
