I've "rescued" two old autograph albums which belonged to members of the ENGELS Family from Michigan and Oregon. The two albums belonged to sisters Annie and Josie ENGELS and include entries from both family and friends dating from the 1880's into the early 1900's. Family entries include sisters Gertie and Ella ENGELS along with Josie's daughter and a cousin John J. MOUNT of Wyandotte, MI. A photograph of a young man from the MORSE Family of Orchard, IA is also included in one of the albums. Both albums are full of entries from friends in Portland, OR; Rockwood, OR; Cleone (now Fairview), OR; Honolulu, HI; Powells Valley, OR; Seattle, WA; St. Thomas, Ontario, Canada; Wamic, OR; Astoria, OR; Gresham, OR; and Albina, OR. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding the family: Annie ENGELS was b. 22 Jun 1867 in Negaunee, MI to parents Joseph ENGELS (b. 8 Aug 1835 in Germany-d. 28 Oct 1912 in Hillsboro, OR) and Anna OTTO (b. 13 Jun 1839 in Germany-d. 12 Oct 1934 in Gresham, OR). Gertrude Christine ENGELS or ENGLES was b. 24 Nov 1871 in Negaunee, MI to the same parents. Gertrude was one of 5 children born to this couple including, Peter; Mary; Annie; Gertrude Christine; and Josephine ENGELS, all born between 1859 and 1874. Gertrude married John M. REDDING and together they had three children including, Annella; John Joseph; and Gertrude Anna REDDING, all born between 1890 and 1895. Gertrude then married Isaac BAKER (b. 1858) and they had a son, William J. BAKER (b. 1906). Gertrude married a third time, to Archibald Herbert PERSONS (b. 1878) and they had a daughter, June Jeannette PERSONS (b. 1917). Gertrude died in 1970 and is buried in the Mount Calvary Cemetery in Portland, OR. Their parents came to Oregon in 1876. Their Mother's obit notes her three daughters as Mrs. PEARSON and Mrs. Ella ELLISON both of Portland, OR, and Mrs. Josie BLISS of Gresham, OR. Josephine ENGLES or ENGELS was b. June 1872 in Oregon and married John BLISS (1862-1950) on 31 Dec 1892 in Portland, OR and then married Frank REEVES on 16 Jun 1954 in Portland, OR. Josie died 8 Jul 1967 in Portland, OR and is buried in the Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery in Portland, OR.
