    1. [ORWASCO] New stuff at website

    3. Hello all, I've recently been uploading quite a bit of new stuff to the Wasco Co. site, and there is more to come. Most recently (yesterday) I reformatted and made some corrections to some of the cemetery listings that were at the old Wasco Co. GenWeb site, and uploaded them to our new site. I also moved all the old surname listings to the new site and posted the queries that have been submitted so far at the new site (the old GenWeb page didn't host its own query page -- only a surname listing). I'm currently preparing some new cemetery listings to add to the old ones, and have some great photos that will soon be uploaded as well, so be sure to keep checking back on a regular basis. For those of you who don't yet know it, our "little" site is now the official Oregon GenWeb site for Wasco County. I am the new County Coordinator, effective earlier this month. There is a query page and I will be posting a surname page that links with the queries. Please post your queries at the site, and tell fellow researchers about the site! We've had a surprising number of visitors to this site since its inception, and we're getting new list subscribers all the time. It appears that there is a great deal of interest in Wasco County, and there is definitely a lot of data available to us as well, so I plan to make good use of all that. I already have received a volunteer offer from one great gal who is going to help me get some stuff transcribed & ready for the web. There is plenty of work to go around if any of the rest of you want to volunteer for transcription, walking cemeteries to read the headstones, cleaning up the cemeteries, gathering data that can be transcribed by someone else, or whatever. If you have materials about Wasco County within your own family history files, I would love to have copies of it to share on the website. You will, of course, be credited with the contributions. Even if you can't afford the time to transcribe or whatever, please contribute what you have. I'll see that it gets transcribed & formatted for the web. I hope you'll all enjoy the site as it continues to grow. I'm having a great time getting it built...except for the dad-gum search box, which I still can't get to index the site properly. :-) -- Cheri puny@mail.com --->>>^<<<--- Wasco Co., OR GenWeb site--> http://www.historysavers.com/orwasco/
