Surnames: Spangler, McNanama, Henderson. Maloch, Bradley G. Edwin “Ed” Spangler, 80, a resident of The Dalles, died Sunday, September 21, 2003 at a Portland hospital. He was born April 2, 1923 in Clarinda, Iowa to Guy and Clara Ellen (McNanama) Spangler and grew up there. Following graduation from high school he joined the Merchant Marine and was Attached to the U.S. Coast Guard in the South Pacific during WWII. After the War he married Ada G. Henderson in Goldendale [Washington] in 1946 and they Made their home in The Dalles until his death. He managed the Hotel Dalles Coffee Shop for 16 years before opening his own Restaurant, the Humdinger Drive-In on West Second Street near Terminal Avenue. After operating the Humdinger for eight years, he became the manager and Operator of the Lone Pine Restaurant for 15 years, retiring in 1987. An avid golfer, he was a member of The Dalles Country Club and spent many hours Perfecting his game. He had also been a life member of the B.P.O. Elks Lodge #303 and a longtime member of the First Christian Church. He enjoyed his family, and particularly liked watching his grandsons play baseball. Survivors include his wife Ada of the family home; daughters Jan and her Husband Daryl Maloch, Forest Grove [Oregon]; Jo Bradley, Gresham [Oregon]; and Four grandchildren, Tyler and Gabe Bradley and Carly and Caitlin Maloch. He Was preceded in death by one brother, Joe. At his request no public services will be held; the family will observe private Ceremonies of remembrance. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church Building Fund, Eighth and Court Streets, The Dalles, Oregon 97058. Arrangements are by Columbia Cremation & Burial.
