Surnames: Mobley, Slaughter, Dunlap, Coelsch, Callahan Verne Edward Mobley, 91, a resident of Madras [Oregon] and a former resident of Kent [Oregon], died September 29 at an assisted living center. He was born May 29, 1912 in Goldendale [Washington] to Victor and Pearl (Slaughter) Mobley. He married Margaret (Dunlap) Mobley on October 23, 1935 in Goldendale. He was a rancher in the Shaniko [Oregon] area from 1943 until 1972 when he And his wife moved to Antelope [Oregon]. While in Antelope, he served as mayor for approximately two years. In 1982 the couple returned to Kent, and remained until they moved to Madras In October of 2001. He belonged to the Oregon Cattlemens Association as well as the Odd Fellows Lodge. He enjoyed being with his family and had a fondness for music. Survivors include his wife, his children and their spouses, Verne and Pat Mobley, Kent; Keith and Diane Mobley, Dufur [Oregon]; Ronald and Jan Mobley, West Linn [Oregon]; Donald and Linda Mobley, Madras; and Krista and Leo Coelsch, Moro [Oregon]; brother, Merle Mobley, Forest Grove [Oregon]; sister, Edna Callahan, Yakima {Washington]; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. His daughter, Mary, two brothers and a sister preceded him in death. A memorial service will be held Sunday, October 5, at 1:30 p.m. at East Cascade Assisted Living Center Building A, 175 N.E. 16th Street in Madras. Final disposition will be private.
