Larison, 74, a resident of Goldendale [Washington], died Tuesday, September 23, 2003 at the Klickitat Valley Hospital [Washington] Following an extended illness. He was born March 4, 1929 in Woodward, Oklahoma, to Clarence and Laura Myrtle (Armstrong) Larison and grew up there. Following his graduation from Woodward High School, he attended Northwestern State College in Alva, Oklahoma, where he received his bachelors degree in Education. He married Arlene Prophet in Buffalo, Oklahoma on November 27, 1949. He later received his masters degree at San Jose State and taught elementary School in California before becoming an administrator. He worked as a school administrator in the Bolinas-Stinson and Alturas districts Retiring in 1993. Following his retirement, he became interested in RV [recreational vehicle] Travel and with his wife began touring around the U.S. looking for a community To settle in for retirement. They discovered Goldendale and moved there in 1994, Where he became a volunteer at local elementary schools, reading stories to the Children, and was active in the Help One Student (H.O.S.T.) program. He enjoyed Music, and was a participant in the Old-Time Fiddlers Association and the Senior Serenaders in The Dalles, as well as lending his strong tenor voice to The Methodist Church choir. He enjoyed the outdoors, particularly boating and Fishing, as well as hunting and camping. He had been a member of Toastmasters International and loved public speaking, and had been a member of the Lions Club The National Education Association, and Mensa. He is survived by his wife Arlene of the family home in Goldendale, and by his Two daughters, Brenda Larison and her husband Tom Smith, Topanga, California; and Sydney Larison and her husband Robert Steinberg, Rochester, Washington. He was preceded in death by a son, David, in 1985, and by two sisters, Donna Gorrell and Anna Mae Kidd. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, September 26 at the Goldendale Methodist Church with Pastor Pat Beeman presiding.
