Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Jason A. Simila, son of Delbert A. Simila of The Dalles, recently departed for a six-month deployment while assigned to the Aircraft carrier USS Enterprise, based in Norfolk, Virginia. Simila is one of more than 6,500 sailors and marines aboard the ships of the USS Enterprise carrier battle group. Carriers like the USS Enterprise are deployed throughout the world to maintain U.S. presence and provide rapid response in times of crisis. Simila is a 1999 graduate of Hood River [Oregon] Valley High School of Hood River, and joined the Navy in June 1999. The Dalles Chronicle October 15, 2003.
