Surnames: Rippee, McCuistion, Wilson, Hollenbeck We celebrate the remarkable life and embrace our immeasurable oss at the Passing of Sydney Rippee at her home in Beaverton, Oregon on September 12, 2003. Born in Oakland, Oregon on August 9, 1936 and raised in Troutlake, Washington, She grew up surrounded by the love of her father and mother, Lawrence and Bettina McCuistion and the support of this small mountain community. Encouraged By her musically artistic mother, she became an accomplished pianist and Vocalist. She was active in many choirs and vocal groups, was a wonderful cook And earned the distinction of Master Gardner. Syd focused on the good in others and maintained a positive outlook on life, Even though battling MS for more than a decade. She loved and was deeply loved By her family and many friends, whom she encouraged to enjoy life as she had Done so much herself. The last year of her life as she dealt with terminal cancer, family and friends Especially her devoted husband, Marvin, rallied together to care for her and Visit often. We made the most of the circumstances and in the process, created Many cherished memories. Sydney is survived by her husband of 35 years, Marvin; daughter, Elizabeth Wilson and her husband Dave of Indianola, Washington; son, Glenn Hollenbeck Of Portland; son, Brian Hollenbeck and his wife Glenda of Portland; mother, Bettina McCuistion of Troutlake; 8 grandchildren, Sara, Morgan, Ron, Syd, Mele, Brice, Tim and Jenna; 4 great-grandchildren; Erik, Grace, Maya, Kiara and Dear friend, Sonna Durdel. The family wishes to thank Legacy Hospice for their expert and compassionate Care and Canfield Place staff and residents for their sensitivity and concern. At her request, a formal memorial service will not be held. In the end, a true measure of a woman is not the wealth she leaves behind, but The richness of the memories she gave to others.
